One of those "zealots" was dilip kumar. He played a key role in stopping their wedding. Suraiya never forgave dilip kumar for it. However , dev has himself said in his interviews that suraiya was a romance of young age, and not love. When suraiyya never ever married. Guess just goes to show the difference between a man and a woman.

No, it wasn't that. Suraiya was a tremendous fan of Gregory Peck, he even visited her after he heard of this, and yes Dev Anand did look like him. Suraiya thought so too.

Her love to Dev was not genuine and true...Dev sahab realisesed and forgotten for ever ..even he didn't attend her funeral ...she remained unmarried for some other reason..( interview with similar Grewal) but Suraiyya was a gentle woman.....but not truly loved Dev sahab because of religion

dev anand the most handsome hero...after the break up dev sahab became the most adored hero in indian filim industry and suraiya gone down...........god punished suraiyya and dev sahab enjoyed succsess after succssess....most brilliant actor..director..show man...suraiyyas love to dev sahab was not real and sincere....but dev sahab...he commented my first and real......she cheated him....but dev sahab recovered and proved himself great....he never interested to .meet or contact her ..and deliberatley avoided her presence except 2 occassions they met accidently........great dev sahab

Dev anand kisi bhee turha sy hero nahi lagta hy, he walk ""chakka"" when follow the heroin. Look any picture. 2 paisay ka bhee good looking nahi . Look pakitani hero santosh kumar,mohammed Ali, darpan,sudheer, only few good looking hero in india movie like shashi kapoor ,Dilip kumar etc.my qusin iqbal use to go with DevAnand in the same primary school ,which was in village,gurdaspur punjab.I dont know why Devanand used to work after 60 yrs age,while his whole body with his head all time,shaking like 90 yrs old man,check any picture, ( some pictures hit by songs,story,cast, dance,) His pictures used to hit by any some reason.not like his face,aur ,his body stucture, no mattar he was intelligent, educated ,, used to wear 3 / 4 diffrent colour scarf around his neck,huge shirt collar ,which he never throw in garbage ,

Dev Anand was an actor of top calibre. It doesn't matter if an insignificant insect like you like him or not, he will still remain one of the best and most respected thespians in the Indian film industry. Your whole life's value is less than the 2 rupees you mentioned. Oh and all Indian actors are good looking, especially the Hindu actors. So don't spend your worthless life spreading garbage and give up if possible.

Thank God the marriage didn't happen. Dev was saved from a religious conversion and becoming a Vidharmi by marrying a non-Hindu girl. Fortune was with him and he went to become one of the biggest stars later.

Suraiya's parents had no objection but Nani and her maternal uncle objected. Objection was not only due to different religions but also due to prospect of losing the huge amount of money she was earning. This is a common phenomenon in case of unmarried earning-girls. Same thing occurred in case of Madhubala and Dilip Kumar. Madhubala's father objected marriage of her daughter with Dilip Kumar for the same reason.

God did not stop this. Naani did because she was afraid of the muslim mafia. If she respected Islam she wld not have let Suraiya act and sing. She was after money, Dev Anand was not as established as Suraiya and she was afraid Suraiya will marry have kids quit acting. Some say Suraiya was intended to be married to some muslim big wigs from Bollywood eg: K Asif who already had a wife.

That means the parents of Nargis, Madhubala, Mumtaz, waheeda Rehman by alowing them to marry Hindus, did not follow the Islam. First human, then religion, the main reason of suraiya's parents didn't allow her to marry was suraiya was earning lots of money & luxurious.
