The reason you can’t find any is that people are afraid to do this because it makes them unpopular. That’s more important to them than philosophizing about life. I think one poet said most people go to their deaths with an unexamined life. They never asked what it was all about. It reminds me of Frank Burns in M*A*S*H “he had an original thought once but it died of loneliness.”

We all have traits of narcissism, I've always thought Russell your a warm lovely fella the first few mins just proves I was right. Also a recovering addict like many, many people i did 10months clean, had a bit of a session if you will two or three weeks ago which I'm absolutely gutted about and I'm certainly not telling people about, only ones I don't know. The guilt the next day was, crippling it really was I'm just glad I didn't continue to use in the following few weeks. I'm slowly learning you never leave the woods totally. I wish any addicts out their all the luck in the world, you can do it if I can anyone can. Misshap aside. For me I have to burn energy like there's no tomorrow. I'm as mad as a box of frogs, at the best of times. God bless everyone who reads this. I'm struggling with religion a bit, I've found my higher power its god for me and not Necessarily how most perceive god. Even without practicing religion proper just having a belief is extremely powerful. I need to get a bible I can actually read, I've got the tiny one that was bought for me as a baby. I digress.

Hi. I am honoured to watch video with Russell Brand and Derren Brown, have a lot of respect for both of you. I got so much out of this talk, explaining awareness of awareness. The other day I was considering my original (core) trauma was when I became aware I am experiencing consciousness. I was going to suggest for you with language and talking with your 2 year old, instead of "I am angry", replace with "I am doing anger" or "I am doing tired" 'i am doing excitement". So the usefulness of the word doing helps to identify it as a passing state of experience, rather than creating it as part of your identity. This helps me a lot, not to become overwhelmed emotionally. Thank you both for this amazing video and for everything else your passions have drawn you to create and share with the universal consciousness (with people). I wish for you both nothing but the best in all things. Metta. Michelle

Maybe your body would of healed regardless of your mind? The doctors are not always right, most of the time they are just guessing on the extent of illness or disease and have no clue how much the body is going to internally heal itself or not. If your body was destined physically to never walk again then no amount of will power is going to make that happen. But that's not "outgoing" or sociable and is ACTUALLY.. unbelievably deemed a 'bad' thing..... It's fucking mental.... Introverts... Less friends.. Less respect.... Less everything.... That's exactly what is happening. Derren appeals to the ' male brain' or left brain which is useless since we need balance of female and male energies within us. The problem with Derren's ' Stoicism' is that it is too left brained or ' male energy' orientated and falls under Yin. Russell's meditation is a right brain function ' Female energy' which connects with the unseen, empathy, creativity compassion. The Universe basically is male and female energy. There must without question be a balance within us of these energies to find peace. Derren is also a fan of NLP and CBT therapy which again arise from SToicism ( male energy) he is also very much a mathematical thinker , again left brained, CBT and NLP are useless to highly emotional or empathetic people that ' feel' everything in this world. This is why he says he is only a little bit ' liberal left' it's almost a 'centrist' position ( middle of the road etc) Never ever deny the female energy, creative energy within you ( or male energy if you are female) doesn't matter how foolish you think you look, never ever repress who you really are. Stocism might help if you are not particulary an emotional person but it is futile in the grand scheme of things. So when he says " Why everything is more or less ok" in his book it is false he also goes on about having a ' good death' my feeling is that Stoicism helps him stay grounded because he is ultimately afraid of losing control. He does not believe in energies beyond the physical world and is very much science based and non spiritual and has never experienced astral travel to other worlds or dimensions. Believe me they exist, and consciousness is not wedded to the body, we are not our bodies. When Derren says he has never needed to meditate because he has never suffered Anxiety is not really an answer. Meditation is for anyone that wishes to truly understand the higher self and the knowledge that comes from the Universal mind where everything is deeply connected.

It was a good book, Happy. I read it twice and I'm so dim that I still need to read it again to try to completely get my head around it, lol. Derren truly is a clever chap. I was comforted by the fact that I couldn't relate to the idea of people wanting bigger cars, houses, more material stuff, etc, etc, I think that could be a decent place to start, not caring about what people think about the car you drive and so on. So, soooo much to learn though. I could probably re-read the book over and over until the day I die and still not fully remember and act upon the content! One thing's for sure, you learn something new every day. Like someone says here in the comments about a fool thinking he's a genius and Derren being the polar opposite of that. What a clever, humble chap. Then you've got Russell - can be hilarious and also very deep. Sometimes Russell speaks so many long words so quickly that I have to "rewind" and put the videos on a slower speed and even then, still listen to it a few times. Oh, how I wish I had a clever brain like these two guys. I guess I try, accept my limitations but do my best, all anyone can do eh. Crikey, I ramble a load of rubbish, and I know that nobody cares lol! If you ever have insomnia, be sure to come back here and read my comment - I can definitely help you fall asleep. I was one of the people that got "healed" on stage. It was so bizarre. I had been so stressed lately and my shoulders and muscles were super stiff and sore. So I decided, before Derren started, to believe 150% what he was doing was real. I mean, why not? He started and I got this adrenaline rush and I felt my shoulders relax and the blood rushed to my brain and everything became very vivid. He asked those who had felt change to come up on stage. I am super insecure and my heart was beating out of my chest but still I went to the stage and he asked me what had changed. I can't remember what I said because the adrenaline being on stage, having Derren Brown infront of me and everyone watching was rushing through my body and I just did what he told me. I think because I went into this willingly and decided to believe it and throw all doubts away I was able to feel the full effect of this "healing" process. The day after my shoulders were sore because of the adrenaline rush but my muscles were very relaxed. So in a sense, it worked for me XD and it's both scary and interesting to see how much BELIEVE in something can effect you mentally and physically.

I think that’s more evidence showing the power of our mind over our physical bodies, as is shown in placebo tests. It’s what you believe.
@tamielizabethallaway2413
@tamielizabethallaway2413 4 жыл бұрын
It's the placebo effect... And before you think I'm knocking your experience, or undermining it, I'm not! I think the placebo effect is a marvelous ability our minds / bodies possess, and something that instead of ridiculing, people should learn to respect it and harness it! The word placebo has come to mean fake, not real, fooling yourself.... So people tend to not want to associate with it, in fact want to somehow prove to everybody that they are too "clever" to be so easily fooled. Whereas I feel like the cleverest people are those who tap into any and every resource available to them to get through a situation... And a lot of times in life, the ONLY resource available is to man-up, grow some balls, face the facts, mind over matter or whatever phrase you choose to call it. The power of our own sheer will and determination to get through something, pain, loss, grief, despair, fear, sadness etc, with no tools other than our ability to take it on, face to face, and rise up above it! In so many situations, that's all we have, and it's incredible! We have the ability to "believe" things are not as bad as they are, not too painful that we can't cope with it, not too overwhelming that we'll crumble and fail in front of everyone. Whether it's mantras, yoga, meditation, prayer, spells, incantations, affirmations, confidence building, ego boosting, life coaching etc etc... They're basically all doing the same thing: allowing you to focus, take it head on, and have the sheer will to beat, whatever it is that's threatening to beat us! Derren always does these little "selector" mind games at the start, so that those who say they felt something, are the ones who are the most suggestible. The ones who give into the experience just as you described! He could randomly pick out people from the audience who are rigidly sceptical and determined to not be brainwashed, but then his stage will be filled with fail after fail in every experiment! It's far better for him, and far more successful for the show, if he sets a little task in the beginning, and those who raise their hand have surrendered themselves to him... People determined to go under, to trust him, and to give themselves over to the experience. That's his way of digging out those in the audience who are more than willing to experience the power of their own minds. In a way, Derren himself didn't heal you...he just tapped into your own resource, and helped you to find your own inbuilt placebo effect... YOU healed you! And that's an incredible strength of mind power that you have, not a weakness or gullibility as some would reject it as! It's time for people to embrace all the placebos in life and feel proud that their imagination has the strength to carry them through their struggles! Too many people choose to block out suffering, drink, drugs, risky behaviours etc, simply because they don't know how much power they possess inside, to cope otherwise! They are so fearful of failure, so certain that's their fate, that they choose to fail deliberately, so that they at least have some control of their own misery. Like, it's a foregone conclusion that they won't succeed in overcoming something, so by agreeing to fail, they can console themselves that they at least made the decision on their own. How powerful their minds are to convince themselves of failing before even trying! If they could only willingly tap into that mind power and turn it on it's head, how much different the outcome would be! I bet it was a surreal experience, but remember, it's not just down to Derren, the will to rise above pain came from you! Otherwise you'd have never been chosen in the first place! 😘😘😘

@@tamielizabethallaway2413 yes, I completely agree with you and you are most certainly not undermining my experience :) I'm a very critical thinker but I am fascinated to see how far the mind can take us like you seem to do too. At Derren's show I allowed myself to believe that he would affect me, influence me and help me with his words, eventhough I knew full well that I was the one who was effecting my own body. But after this experience I have a better understanding on how people feel in these kind of ceremonies. It's really an adrenaline rush, and it's no wonder that people connect it to a higher power when they don't understand it. It would be interesting to see if people can call out this "power" within themselves, like you said, to achieve things. Very interesting topic indeed.

Excellent talk, I've recently been pondering that many of the issues in my own life are the result of an overactive avoidance of discomfort. It seems like the same impulse that's designed to keep us safe i.e. fire burns, so stay away from it, being injured hurts, so stay safe e.t.c. can also become too restrictive when applied to other forms of discomfort such as social discomfort, fear of the unknown for example.

Absolute Authenticity is connection to the light in us all that weaves its silky, loving, gentle, vulnerable, infinitely Interconnected threads in and out and all around everything, everyone, every star and sound wave throughout and throughin the Universe.

Being concerned with politics shouldn't be looked down on. It's not lesser than pondering global consciousness when people are suffering & dying due to policy.

I think the point is that it's draining in that it is quite a negative endeavour in our society, politics is to solve problems instead as what it should be which is to do good: for DB he said he's not confrontational enough, that at heart he's too accommodating, for RB he said he just needs to retool himself and I imagine views his current work as coming at it from the side...or indeed from within: IMO neither looked down on it.

it is not the truth at all, derren tried church, when you try Jesus you don't go back!, a bit of advice to you all, if you are constantly questioning things and searching, try the Answer!, his name is Jesus Christ and he is the way, the TRUTH and the life as he says in the Gospel of John, and trust me I have tried EVERYTHING, from all drugs and drink to catholic to atheist to jedhi!!! you don't even have to believe me though, go straight to the source and humble yourself with a honest heart and ask the Lord Jesus to reveal hiself to you and I PROMISE you he will..........................WATCH OUT though because what you ask for he will give you in bucket loads. God bless.X

Jesus will tell you to differently I would think. We are nothig without Our Father. The jesus tune being pushed is an agenda. Jesus saved us already. But we have to connect to our father and open our ears to listen. Its our choice still and you cant be saved unless you choose to be saved.

Oh yessss The Christ Jesus is 100% real, trust me. He is the Way the Truth and the Life. I won't bore everyone with my testimony but He is the ultimate problem solver. Open your heart and have Faith in Christ the Redeemer and the Prince of Peace. Nothing beats having Jesus in one's Life.. No drink or drug trumps having the Love of Christ in one's Life❤️❤️😊😍

Russell has amazed me. He must have fought some fight within himself, must have been brutally honest with himself to get to this level of understanding. He has amazed me. .....from Ireland.
