Mr. Ronnie Laws, I hope you know your fans never stopped loving your music, despite the myopia and ignorance of promoters. We love you brother!

Ronnie has the sweetest vibrato that I took as a part of my voice. Plus, I also sing like I play and play like I sing. Wow, I also played with Miki Howard.

Going forward we need to insist Ronnie be included at these festivals. I will.

There should also be an Unsung TV Show for Jazz Artists as well, because Ronnie is definitely one of them!

I as well fail to understand why so many of these concert promoters seem to overlook such a great talent as Ronnie

Ronnie is the Best, you'll never hear a sweeter horn than his. The first time I heard "always there" my head spun & I had to go out & get his album immediately. I would listen to Lester Young, John Coltrane, Grover, George Duke and all the others but none of them penetrated to your bones like Ronnie something just grabbed your senses & made you perk up. I hope He produces something new, it's been way too long.

Thanks Scott for another great interview, this time with one of my all-time sax men, Ronnie Laws. I was 12 years old when I heard him with EWF, and 15 when he raised the Blue Note label from sleep with ALWAYS THERE. I’ve been a fan ever since. Now that we are in the year of COVID, maybe he could do live streaming like other artist? His fans are right here waiting on his next move. Thanks again Scott.

The Great Ronnie Laws! So funky! It's amazing how an individual can begin a genre and then be excluded from the fruits of that genre.

The Eddie Harris tribute was 1997. And the Isley Brothers tribute was 1998 on Bluenote! I loved it!

I have notice I haven't seen Ronnie Laws tour that much and that is a shame. We're missing out on a extraordinary talent. One of the problems I see is, R&B seems to be going in the same direction as Traditional Jazz. Many R&B artist aren't getting work and many have stop making albums or they go to Europe. With the move to digital music downloads, it's hurt artist because now instead of buying the entire CD, now you can just download the song you want. Now many sites have music at no cost but it gives the artist pennies now. In the states hop hip genre owns the airways and that's great but listening to more than one genre is the spice of life. If you love music let's show all these talented artist some love.

9:30 He is right about those festivals. You’re lucky to find him performing; especially outside of the west coast.

We both know why you where excluded from Performing. It has to do with the initials JW. I’m sure you are aware of what I’m talking about.

"Every Generations' is a great project and a great song! Nate Phillips really shines on O.T.B.A on bass and Larry Dunn is all over this project!!! Yeah, there was no Smooth Jazz format back then even though what became Smooth Jazz was being played. I must admit that the newer format seems very formulaic and has strict boundaries with regard to the length of songs and it's not as good and as pleasing as it used to be. If someone doesn't fit in the Smooth Jazz "box", they're shunned. Not including Ronnie is just wrong and almost criminal!!! Maybe Ronnie can spearhead a Before Smooth Jazz Festival! Hearing the music live is much more enjoyable live than what's recorded in the studio. Eddie Harris was one of the first musicians that I gravitated to before I began playing bass and "Listen Here" from "The Electrifying Eddie Harris" album is my favorite Eddie Harris song! I can't wait to hear Ronnie's son play!!! Craig T. Cooper is a great guitarist! Wise advice by Ronnie. You hit another grand slam in this interview, Scott!!!

That’s FOUL! Stealing people’s equipment! And the pawn shops are dirty because they never check for stolen goods...in fact I don’t know of ANY stores that do that.

It's really tragic that you have to play commercials during an interview with a legend. Very ignorant.
