He'd observed that it seemed to be true that the first loyalty was to family, the second loyalty was to tribe, and the third loyalty was to country. Maybe that's not true across all countries, but in Kuwait it certainly seemed to be.

In America, as a child, we had Arab neighbors with two children my age. Randa and Shareef were sweet friends and always so courteous and kind. They were not allowed to my home, but I was welcome to theirs. I always had difficulty with how seemingly angry and loud they all spoke to each other; my own background of verbal abuse caused me to cringe. One day Randa and Shareef came to my door to tell me goodbye. Randa had asked her parents to speak English when I was there so I could understand and would not be afraid. She was bruised. Their parents were offended. Randa said they did not like my American beliefs. I was only eight years old. From that day on, they were not allowed to even acknowledge me in passing. It broke my heart. Any Arab stereotypes I carry of loud and close minded comes from that experience. I have enjoyed watching your videos. Although I am late I see, I wanted to say thank you for your openness. A fresh perspective is always welcome if it comes from honesty.

Been halfway around the world and back going both ways. lol The one comment I'd make is that "stereotypes come from somewhere". The example I usually use is homeboys vs. hillbillies. Three teeth having hillbillies living in trailers in West Virginia, with no underpinning under the trailer, and a car on blocks in the front yard didn't make up the stereotype of a homeboy, any more than homeboys made up the stereotype of hillbillies in WVA. It is what it is. And, if you perpetuate it, you are what you are. In today's world, people are FAR too worried about offending anyone to keep it real. Thank you for keeping it real. Oh...You don't even have to leave the Dubai airport to see how crazy the money is in that area. The Gulf area is very mix between Arabs, converted Jews of Madina and Najran, East Africans, Persians and Indians. You can find the influences in their food, music, cloth and features. Western Saudi in Hijaz region are even more mixed from all over the world due to Hajj specially in Makkah, Jeddah, Medina and Taif to teh point you will see some look Chinese and some look Russians!. Pure Arabs are really few and founded in some regions in Saudi, Jordan and Yemen. Overall, Arabs are connected by language and people in the region blended together and created great cultures and a beautiful language. You cannot find a pure country in the Middle East and North Africa, we are all different but somehow related by mixed marriages and fascinating cultures.

So heres the thing western and non western arabs are a little different in North africa and middle east Last name means so much it represents family as a whole in the west a last name is kind of just a last name. If one peraon strays off from an image it can make the whole family look bad sometimes. So when picking a wife or husband its image you want a successful huaband good wife. In the western eyes cooking and cleaning is being submisive for some when its really just traditional roll. For men being jealous & possesive there is lines where it is normal and when it becomes controlling there is different levels and ways about how men respond to desifer the differance. Jealousy isnt bad unless they turn into a sychopath but that goes for women to. Neither arab men or woman like to share what is theirs. I like to say over all we juat have strong personalitys.

In the US in 20s 30s 40s it was expected for wives to be submissive be a good cook and can take care of the house...etc and that's because the man's salary can pay for everything easily but with the world changing and women has to works that changed in America, and the same thong is happening here, I don't think any average man wouldn't like for his wife to have a work as for the cooking cleaning etc both can work on it or mostly bring a nanny to do that work.
