Hoping someone will eventually so we can get a first hand experience. But it’s takes a lot for someone to trust you with their very expensive truck so I’m not pushing it. If someone offers I’ll for sure take it.

Cool video! I had 30K miles on my Gen 1 Raptor and 48K miles on my Gen 2 Raptor, both very cool machines. My TRX is just so much more fun to drive IMO. Are a lot of people having issues with TRX? I haven't heard much and all good for me so far.

I’ve been monitoring the TRX forums and lots of build quality issues. From improperly installed torque arms to poor placement of components that results in issues. Not many taking them offroad yet too. Lots of pavement running. So that why Raptor guys keep clowning on them. For us, I wanted to see what one could do offroad. Ow that we have seen one there are a few things we are going to point out in next weeks video, but overall she’s a contender and will be a ton of fun offroad

Yeah, i hope too see it’s reliability overtime. The truck definitely ran hotter. At every stop the fans and cooling system was working overtime. So loud, the Raptors sounded like they were off.

Depends on the strategy that Ford implements. From what we are hearing so far it’s similar to doing spring upgrades and limiting up travel. It may not rub, but we won’t know till we test it on the trails

Suspension. Performance is no match. Gen1 V8 is lazy AF. But offroad, the TRX won’t be able to use all that extra power. so on the trails they will perform very similarly.

Far more cost effective yeah, but won’t be able to compete on power. I’ve driving with a few supercharged Gen1s and they are still slower than the ecoboost. I have not driven one myself, but hope too soon. Suspension wise the TRX has more travel and will probably also beat out a stock Gen1 there as well.

Something telling me raptor is either bumped internally with single tube bypass for rebound and the trx isn't its just latest tech bilstien touring/all terrain active management. Raptir designed for g outs

Completely different strategies in the shocks yes. Fox do have internal zones (2.5in internal shock with multiple bypass zones) to cope with rougher terrain. Raptor live valve also adjusters based on each side independently. Bilstein does not have bump zones and relies heavily on the active valve. They also employ a strategy where the truck favors keeping the truck level, rather than react to each corner. That’s why you saw it stay level on the jump when the Raptor was driver side biased on that same obstacle. Stock for stock I think the Fox is the better shock because it can deal with rougher terrain. But I also think the bilstein active valve strategy is better and would run smoother.

Thanks. I also find it interesting the TRX has an open front end letting the computer apply brakes to alternate between the front tires for traction while the raptor has a limited slip.

Offroad the limited slip is the better choice IMO. You don’t realize how crappy the alternative is until you have wheels in the air with no traction. The TRX struggles with climbing scenarios with limited grip. We saw it even during the drivers events at launch and they all compensated with throttle which can result in major damage offroad.

You don’t buy these trucks for gas mileage, but I saw a review that the TRX only gets 250 - 270 miles per tank! That seems super limiting especially when you start your run 50 miles from the nearest gas station. Did the owner of the TRX mention how many miles he was getting off of a tank of gas?

Fuel consumption is a problem. While all the Raptors all had a little over 3/4 of a tank after we were done. The TRX was closer to half a tank. Looks like it’s going to get similar range to a Scab Raptor with the smaller 26 galling tank.

Yeah, I agree. On most full day runs they would need to stop more often. I’ve also heard that on sand with aggressive driving the fuel economy gets worse. Big engine = big thrist

Raptor is better off-road due to being significantly lighter and slightly smaller. For its size and weight the TRX does amazing for a stock vehicle.

Check out the video we released after this one. The extra weight of the TRX really slowed it down and it bottomed out way sooner than the TRX

I would like to see the TRX make some high speed off road desert runs in June/July. I bet it wont take long before that supercharger gets heat soaked.

Very few go out those months and even the Raptors can overheat in over 100 degree weather. But it’s usually the modified Raptors with the upgraded intercooler that overheat. More power always equals more heat and a compromise in hot temps. It’s also why I don’t mess with the engine power. Stock It’s the perfect balance of power to me

We were all shooting for 40 mph. The TRX definitely came in a little over, but we are talking maybe 2-3mph over. Not the 5-10

We got a look at the Ranger tremor at the Raptor Junkies event and I was very underwhelmed. Front end was way too low, it had side steps that would just drag everywhere, and the AT tires looked more street and all terrain. To me the tremor seems a lot like the z71 package on a Silverado. It’s mainly just skid plates and stickers. I don’t see much additional offroad capability. I know they have different shocks and all, but I just don’t see the offroad capability there without some major mods

When compared to a Tacoma I think it has the potential to be better. The Tacoma is stuck in the dark ages still using disk brakes in the back and an engine that is extremely slow and lazy. In being reliable, the Toyota is boring.

🤣🤣 it did ok. This was only a half day run. Raptors finished with just over 3/4 tank. TRX and need with just a little over 1/2 tank. Only used a quarter tank more than the Raptors.

I think the super cab with the 26 gallon tank will get the same range as the TRX with 32. BUT I have read that if you stay on the throttle, I chugs thru fuel.

Thank you finally someone took one REAL DESERT off road what they are built for, and I still think that motor is way to heavy for those front shocks. I also feel like it did really good. I will say this If that Roman guy from TFL trucks calls it the first super truck one more time I'm going to flip my FREEKING WIG!!! the Raptor is still a better all around desert truck and the 3rd Gen on 37s is going to destroy the TRX, not to mention if there is a real Raptor R!!!

The TRX is king of trucks if not why do you need a raptor R lol. For ram to make this nice of a truck on there first attempt is stunning to say the least it. You can obviously tell that this truck wasnt just thrown together to chase clout it is a real deal performer and its in stock form.

I don’t really know about all that man. Ram did build a nice truck. That engine though is mostly a gimmick. Ford don’t need the R to show the Raptor is better and that’s why the R will be a very limited release. On the next video we are going to deconstruct the slow mo clips and show you why all that weight combined with smaller shocks is not a good thing. And why I personally think the Gen2 Raptor with its antiquated rear leaf suspension can still outperform the Ram where is matters most, on the trails.

@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad also make sure to annotate where the TRX dominates to make a fair comparison because the fact remains that these trucks spend the majority of their lives on the pavement not on a trail.

True, but I feel every other channel has addressed that already. I swear if I hear it called a super truck again I’m going to vomit. My channel focus is off-roading. I only started this channel because there was no DIY content for the Raptors and too many posers offering useless advice. My audience cares about offroad performance so that’s what we are going to focus on

Why do you refer to dirt roads as off road? I am looking to get a truck that would be great for the many unpaved state highways and roads like that. But that is not off road to me. There are some that are washboard roads. What would be best there? These are the things I am trying to find out about. Again. These are roads. Just not paved.What would you use on trips such as these.

There is no suspension setup that can cope with washboards. You can air down to make it a little softer, but nothing can really compensate for them.

I own a 2017 and 2019 raptor and we as raptor owners shouldn’t be making jokes about TRX gas mileage or them overheating bc raptors been know to cook a motor or 2 lol

Stock I have not seen it. I’ve seen plenty of modified Raptor overheat. Specially running in the summer with that large Intercooler blocking things up front. Or supercharged ones running hard. We did fairly light trails and wind was high with temps in the high 80s and the TRX was running hot for sure. So loud it sounded like the Raptors were off. Big engine equals big heat.

Video is out man. TRX suspension is not as good as the Gen2. And with different truck brand there is always some friendly back and forth. No one is really off-roading the TRXs. So it has still yet to be proven as an off-roader. All we keep hearing about is track times and breakdown issues right now. We find out soon once ours comes in

When this video came out, all you heard was about the breakdowns of these trucks 🤷‍♂️. Im a Raptor guy and im critical of that truck too. You want a sugar coated fake reviews, go watch the millions of other channels. You want honest, with some real world banter, then stay here.

The trx did better than I expected, however it is pretty lame that ram didn't engineer it to at least perform significantly better than a gen 2. At the heart of it the gen 2s design is almost 5 years old and is still very similar to gen 1 which was being designed and almost 15 years ago. We can now see that the trx has some offroad cred but what mod potential does it have? With how tied the shocks are to all the systems in the truck it may not even be possible to upgrade it. Then add the fact that the trx has front parking sensors, fog lights, oil coolers, and shock resis mounted behind the stock bumper is it even possible for frame cut or high clearance front bumpers? From what I've seen on other videos, it clearly needs it. It's just so expensive and complicated I can never see it competing with the raptor for die hard offroad enthusiasts.

That front end is a big problem for the truck. But all that relocation has been done before on the Raptor. Soon we should see relocation kits for everything and eventually a active valve disabling system to allow for larger shocks to be installed. It won’t be cheap, there is a reason Raptor guys always complain about the Raptor tax. These guys are about to find out there is a TRX tax

🤣🤣 not even close. Only area the TRX performs better is on the street. On dirt, Raptor runs circles around the TRX. Pretty strange for an off-road truck like the TRX to only be good on the street. Offroad she cannot take a turn, bottoms out way to easy, and is just slow. 🤷‍♂️

You act like the trx can’t handle like the raptor🤣 If the truck had an experienced driver you would see that the trx can handle better than you raptor. But still cool to see the raptor and trx off-roading together

TRX can keep up, but not handle like the Raptor. Check out the follow up video. Experience does not matter on these obstacles and we found the limits of the TRX well before the Raptor.

It was cool to see the video comparing the two in a real world scenario but the pretentious tone you are giving off is not really cool. Your raptor has constantly been in the shop for multiple repairs and has an issue that you cant get rid of, yet you keep throwing jabs at the dudes TRX and nitpicking it while you have a truck that you are lemon law'ing at the moment......
