Soma Ram is a 10 year old boy from small Village in Rajasthan. I met him while I was on my way to market he wanted to clean my shoes though my shoe is already clean. But I thought why not give him a chance and while he was cleaning my shoe I came to know that he even go to school. But due to current pandemic it’s closed. So he clean and polish the shoe for little as 20 rupees and what touched me most is that he save that money for his mother. I’m deeply touched by his way of thinking and I decided to offer him 2000 rupees instead of 20 rupees for cleaning my shoe.

I love the heart and dignity of this very young MAN, because he so desperately wants to work for his needs. I’m also disgusted seeing grown healthy adult men and women in my city who never want to work, but would rather beg for money on street corners from those who choose to work for it. Lazy vs diligent.

I noticed it too. It reminded me of my mother's hands. After the stories she told me about having to work since she was a little girl because her mother needed someone to help, work in the developed country I live in doesn't seem such a chore and I think my mum even felt she couldn't do it to us as we were never even given chores as kids but we learned watching her. Bless the parents that do things to give their children happy lives.

My heart breaks, it makes me realise how blessed I am and how blessed my 8 year old son is that he doesn't have to deal with anything like this. This broke my heart mainly because I have 2 kids my self a boy 7 and a girl 9 and even do they are amazing kids they are so spoiled with toys and crap that they don’t even need. I’m in tears. So true and boy was so happy to share his poetry and song/ prayers. He is a treasure. Hope he was convinced to take the money back to his mother that day. He must be so excited to give it to her. Meanwhile i imagine while he is away from his village he probably eats little and sleeps on street.
