Lol yeah, as we dig deeper, we end up seeing that all fundamentals intertwine with all or most others. Fundamental relationships is what leads into the topic of compensators ( how we break the rules without actually breaking any rules)

I’ve been trying to understand the weight idea for a while I’m for sure buying the book.

Hi! Graphic designer, here! Visual weight is related to how much "presence" a visual element has; how much it constrasts with what surrounds it. Elements with visual weight are what you simply can't ignore; what grabs your attention first. There's exceptions, though: imagine you have a bunch of thick blocky letters, and in the middle a very delicate thin one. The thick blocky letters have the most visual weight. But in that context, the delicate letter is what stands out, therefore grabbing your attention - because contrast creates focus. Hopefully, this was helpful!!

When you gonna have interviews, with some artist on your channel, it should be interesting
@Theartistblock

ya know, someone (might have been you) recommended this a while back and I've thought about it ever since. I've been thinking of teaming up with someone else to have them do the interviews, simply because I don't think I've cut out for making good interviews but I might have to give it a try because its a great idea

It will give a different aspect as an artist, and the world of graffiti but of course it’s up to you More aspect to the channel I’m not saying nothing wrong with it. I think you handle every aspect of lettering and style when it comes down to it keep going.

Hey John, do you sell a physical copy of your book? would love to pick up a copy but i’m not the biggest fan of e books :(
@Theartistblock
@Theartistblock 4 ай бұрын
Hey Ash, we're still working out the physical copies. No exact date when they'll be ready, but maybe a month or so. We're still working out some issues with the book. For full transparency, we've decided to go with amazon publishing as they allow us to keep our right to the digital copies (something no other publisher wanted to do). We've ordered proofs of the book and it's come back with some issues and some quality inconsistencies Im not happy with. Once we see what the issue is and how we can fix it, we'll start pushing the books out and promoting those.

@@Theartistblock Awesome! i’m excited for that my birthday is in about a month, will probably order the collection as a gift for myself, Amazon is quite reliable and fast as well, and if it allows you to retain your rights i think that’s a great option

@Theartistblock
@Theartistblock 6 ай бұрын
Lol I do, that's what these videos are. You already know how to draw the elements you want, the issue is you don't know where to place them, how to place then and what effect they have when you place them in your work. These videos teach you all of graffitis basics, from there you just have to apply that info to the thing you're adding to see if it's going to negatively or positively effect your work. For example, if I want an underline but it keeps looking weird. I'll ask myself, is it too far from the letters therefore adding space, resulting in anticipation and weight? Maybe its too close and cuts through a letter diminishing negative space and obscuring structure. Thats how it works, even for wild styles
