NewCity is a new regional city builder game for PC. It has some of the biggest maps iv seen for a city builder game but I do like how you can change the size of the map. The game is in early access but I had a lot of fun and wanted to share this game with you.

Looks like it has some very interesting potential. New ideas and ways to bring in more real life concepts. Seems like they are first concentrating on the actual gameplay, things like balance of money, progression, etc before they get to deep into the aesthetics. Pretty smart from a development standpoint because no matter how pretty it looks, if it is not fun and engaging it won't do well. As for the wanting skyscrapers so quickly, well that goes back to the realism factor I think. There is no city ever that had skyscrapers with a population like that. It costs more to build up than it does to build out and is only financially viable and realistic in a large city. Unless you are china and are needing to build empty cities full of empty skyscrapers for the sake of creating fake economic growth to delay your inevitable implosion.

To answer you questions and concerns for your financial concern on this game their is a option In your city info to increase your “Line of Credit” which means you get more money. And for you density concern and comment different amenities give off different levels of each stat including density. For example the university gives off 10 density increasing the level of density in the area and so one. Your welcome!!

The developer wanted to make it difficult for skyscrapers to develop in order to make the game feel more realistic. Personally, I was intrigued by the game in its early development phase but I got bored with it quite quickly. It’s one of those games I like to watch people play, but I got bored of the slow, more realistic pacing of city development. It’s not like Cities: Skylines or SimCity 4, where skyscrapers can develop within a few minutes, you have to be really patient with it, and I found the placement of roads, especially highways, to be time consuming and annoying, even with blueprints. Also, BTW, the main focus of NewCity is the economic aspect, and it looks weird because the developer was influenced by the style of 90s city builders like SimCity 2000, hence the unique, isometric-ish camera angles.

It looks like they're actually trying to sim an actual city, which makes me think of SC4 rather than skylines. I'll be watching this one because, for as much as I love skylines, in the end, it's mostly a creative endeavor ...more akin to a city 'painter' with convenient suggestions about management, more than a simulator.

its definitely a more american or even spanish colonial city design, but i will say that gridded does not mean car-centric. Gridded streets are actually much easier for pedestrians, and modern car-centric american cities do not use grids anymore.

Mixed. Use. Zones. that alone goes a long way in avoiding car-centric urbanism. With regards to American cities, a big part of the reason they are awful is because new development rarely happens in areas that are zoned for mixed use.

I'm liking this game so far, though it takes some getting used to. It's obviously more about building a functional city than Cities Skylines, where you can focus more on detailing and design. One thing I still can't wrap my head around is education. There doesn't seem to be an easy way to see how many eligible students there are in the city, how many desks each schools provides, how far students will commute to school etc. Or maybe schools are just an area of effect type of thing? It's a lot of trial and error when playing the game. Hopefully they will improve the documentation and tutorials once the game nears completion. You can change the FOV in the options to make it look more natural. The exaggerated FOV is charming, but it gets very tiring and almost nauseating when you're panning and tilting the camera around.

It's just like comparing Parkitect to Planet Coaster. While Planet Coaster gives you full liberty of designing your own theme park and admire your graphical aesthetic in full glory, it is resources-heavy and not everyone can enjoy the game to its full potential. However, Parkitect provides a simplified isometric experience for lower-end PC gamers to enjoy building a theme park, and similar to NewCity, its economic management aspect is better than the latter (Planet Coaster/Cities Skylines). Essentially, you may compare these games for what they have and not, however, should still enjoy for what it is and not hate it just because it lacks something that others have. But I do agree that the camera view in NewCity turns me off. Parkitect is more pleasing to look at. 😂

I think the main difference between this and cities skylines is that cities skylines is mainly a casual city builder where you can build pretty cities but isn’t that realistic other than the traffic management element. This is more of a hard-core city builder. The maps are much bigger than city skylines but the graphics are much worse.

If you can plop an asset or just random buildings that you subscribed on steam, the buildings have various designs, you can use mods, (like TMPE), skyscrapers, more roads, etc or more like Cities Skylines Man! I would play rather play this than cities skylines! Coz the population is so realistic😂. I hope in the future, they would kinda change the graphics a lil bit. If they do change the price like let say $30-50. Im down for that! As long as, the graphics is not really annoying, it's more likely a cities skylines, you can use mods, plop assets, it has trains, busses, airports, bus station, etc!.
