I get so many questions about how to choose wax or how did you choose the wax for your candle line. Although, I made a video on different waxes (I will link it in the cards and below) but honestly you just have to try them out, do some testing, record/document results, and make a choice. So, I went on Amazon and purchased a basic kit - something I encourage all beginners or hobbyists to do! It's an inexpensive way to test out many waxes before deciding a final wax for your line (if you choose to start a business). Enjoy 😊

What's up everyone...Hope you all had a good week! It was fun playing in this kit and making those 8 candles. If you seen my FB or IG stories, I am still burning them now! This was my first time purchasing a beeswax kit and I like beeswax; it cures fast and gives a good cold and hot throw. What wax or waxes are you currently testing or practicing with? Let's chat!

I just bought this kit. My instructions dont give the temperature to heat the wax. I have the one with fragrance oil. What temperature did you heat the wax to?

@@dyfinley2540 It cam with no instructions paper at all? Mine said 62 to 66 celsius which is 144 to 150 degrees Fahrenheit

@@LadyCIMONNECandleCo It say to add fragrance at 65 degree Celsius and cool down to 55 degree Celsius. But not the melt temperature.

@@dyfinley2540 Okay. To melt beeswax, melt to the temperature I just wrote to you; to about 150 degrees. As I mentioned in that video, sometimes when practicing with kits and different waxes you have to fill in the gap. Google will always be your friend.

Thank you!! I am testing my beeswax candles and my lavender/geranium essential is about 8% #4 square braid cotton wick but my ocean mist natural fragrance is 10% to get a good hot throw with the same wick. So yes testing is sooo important!! I let mine cure for 10 days.

Paris, this was an excellent beginner video. Awesome review! I love beeswax. I use coco beeswax from Wooden Wick Company, as part of my natural line of products. Beeswax is lovely for purifying the air in your home. It has charged ion particles that clean your air, pretty cool, right? So sometimes I don't even add fragrance. When I do I love Moana Tahiti fragrance oil from Save On Citric, or the Vanilla fo from Wooden Wick Co. Thanks for sharing!!!

I feel like the kit was designed to easily make 2 candles at a time. 1 bag, 2 wick holders. Also beeswax candles burn pretty hot. Don't use these on surfaces that will melt or burn. You might find that you brand your wooden surfaces! About the fragrance oil, unlike other waxes which don't have much smell, if any, good beeswax does, so in its simplest form, it doesn't need dressing up with added scents. As a starter set, this is appropriate. For more experienced candlemakers, I'm sure they will figure it out. Welcome to beeswax! :-)

Hi Paris, great beeswax video review! I'm a new candle maker that's been struggling with soy, mainly the hot throw. I'm currently testing the coco soy today actually and am finding it so much better. I've ordered some beeswax pellets to play around with making wax tablets also and my question is, do you think I can mix some of the soy I have with the beeswax for a better scent throw, maybe 50/50? I was using soy 444 with wooden wicks. Thanks! T

I thank you for the video! I just bought a kit similar to the one in the video but it has oils. I wish I could have seen you actually add the wicks. I’m not sure what to do with the white sticky dots (from watching the video) I also am grateful that you said how much oil to use but I wish I could have seen whether you added it to each individual tin or the entire cannister of beeswax

Great! I have a couple amazon kits linked in the description box. Yea, with soy wax, your not going to pack a huge punch because of the nature of the wax.

I bought this same one on Ebay, I actually had one on amazon I really liked that included everything but amazon wont let me sign in... it has my old phone number 🙄 so anyways I had to get this kit you have, from ebay... I purchased a thermometer, oils, and colors, seperate... it all came to more like $70 instead of the $40 kit on amazon I loved include included everything:( however I did get quite a few oils and like a bunch of different colors, I could have made it cheaper 😋 waiting for this to come in the mail!!

Hello! You should add based on what’s recommended by who you purchased the wax from. But I find added it lower helps reserve the scent so I add mine at 165🙂 but that came from testing.

Beeswax generally has it's own scent...honey. It would be a shame to add a contradictory odor. Adding oil will also change other variables, so yeah testing is key.
