@@shaggytoph There's no back gesture and there never has been. They have to build the back button or gesture into the app's UI, which to be fair is generally good practice for Android as well but for iPhone that's the ONLY way. Sometimes you can swipe to go back and there's never any indication of it. And to close the keyboard you have to swipe the keyboard down off the screen or tap away from it, which is crazy

That's freaking wild 😳 You should give a Pixel phone a spin next. I switched from Sammy to Pixel and haven't looked back, though you would lose that stylus so if that's a massive selling point, not much can be done there. My Pixel has the weather widget and lock screen bonuses you talked about as the pluses of the iPhone though. What's cool is if you use Google home devices and set a timer on one of those, even that shows on the lock screen of the phone so if you leave the room you set the timer in and get distracted, you don't miss your timer.

My biggest annoyance with iOS is that you can only have one alarm that fades in so it doesn't shock you awake as soon as it goes off. Android allows you to set the feature for any alarm you set, but on iOS only the "Wake Up" alarm will fade in.
@NonLegitNation2

lol, I actually need to be shocked awake in the morning. I downloaded an alarm called "fire_alarm" from the Zedge app and it is the absolute loudest most annoying alarm I have ever heard. I have it set as my default alarm sound which is actually embarrassing when I'm at work and I have my alarm set to go off to remind me to take my lunch. I also have an alarm set to go off every 5 minutes in the morning for a solid 40 minutes because it always wakes me up and I hit "stop" right away to turn the alarm off.

The one thing Kinsey liked the most, the weather, was because they bought a company (Dark Sky), pulled their code into the Apple weather app, and shut it down. So they didn't even develop it; they bought it. Then, they changed the APIs from free to pay so that if you want it on Android, you have to pay for an app that uses it, further extending their anti-competitive behavior.

Why? A lot of the things android users like are things you just get use to. What other device has a universal back button? When you want to go to a previous app on windows, do you use back? no.. that's just something you get use to. TBH most of mobile users have a kind of Stockholm syndrome of things you're just used to... And then cry because these cant keep up with his absurd setup he use. Just like mrwhoistheboss started doing comparison beetwen iphone and other high end android phone and over half of the points that apple get are "android is objectively better, but I prefer the apple way so the point go to apple" and the others are about the camera. Even when he compare iphone with a 100MB camera because "the focus is a bit better on iphone, this mean the software is better so the point is for apple".

For example I really like having the universal back capability but I do use the gesture. I HATE having to arrange things on android, although I'm sure I'll come to value that. I also disliked the alarm switch mostly bc it did the exact same ecosystem pushes for getting integrated to health apps, but it was actually harder to work in my opinon, might be bc im just not used to it. But as far as the actual switch I found the exact same problems with apps and contacts etc that Kinsey had from android to iPhone. I think it is just tough both ways. Great vid!!!

Kinsey's a real one, lol. I got an iPad 2yrs ago through AT&T and I absolutely hate it. I wish I had gone with a Samsung Tab instead. Just general things like transferring files from my PC to the iPad are a pain in the @$$. My iPad has been delegated to being a VERY expensive KZfaq video player and that is it. Seriously I only use it at work when I'm on my breaks either watching a KZfaq video or a video I put on the iPad. I tried using it one time to edit a video, even going as far as buying a cheapish ($50.00) attachable keyboard but just finding a good free video editing app was a PITA. I have like 8 more payments to make on this iPad and once it's paid off it's going up on FB Marketplace and I'm using what I get from that to put towards a Samsung Tab. The only plus side is this exact iPad is still going for around $500 on the used market.

I completely agree with the icon arrangement and having a nice desktop on the phone. I do the same thing with my PC and on android it just feels good to have it customized to my liking. All the points about getting emulators and just running 3rd party apps is on point, a real game changer when you are a power user. To me the standout of the OS is it's flexibility and functionality despite being as open to implement on different hardware of varying power. To me its the best OS and nothing since WebOS on the Palm Pre can match it.

Kinsey captured the experience perfectly, as a life long android user who had to get used to a work iPhone all of her frustrations resonated, and the few things she enjoyed made sense. They're just phones, we all like different things.

I agree with Kinsey on literally everything. The back button situation is so bonkers it has to be a decade long troll. Google has tried to make switching away better, but it's still a nightmare. I hope she never has to wade through the horrors of xcode, provisioning, and store submission.

did have to deal with a bit of that back in school when I was making games. even with Unity letting you cross-platform build easily we still had to borrow a macbook from our teammate's dad just to Compile it... and lmaooo store submission. I'd hope it's gotten better since 2017 but I don't imagine it has.

I switched from an android to an iPhone 14 and I lasted a few weeks and I switched back to a google pixel. My main gripe is the layout. Can't move icons, can't customize the theme as much, Can't sideload apps. I like my KZfaq revanced because I watch a ton of KZfaq. I also like my 3 buttons. Gesture navigation is slower.

One thing about gestures. As Matt I like gesture and can switch to if I can on Android, that's the point.

This is so funny, I'm also an Android user for all my life from lg, to revvl, to samsung, and now s22. I just bought my iPhone 15 pro max to test it out and see how it is. It will be arriving tomorrow, but I recently used someone's iPhone, and man, it felt so limited and cheap in a way. Hopefully, I enjoy it.

Kinsey seems to have the same exact complaints I did. I used one for about 2 1/2 weeks when my phone broke and I was waiting on insurance and the back button, keyboard, and app manager were killing me. I hate the fact that we live on our phone but we do, and we want them to be what we want. My wife, HARDCORE iPhone user agrees that android is better, but she doesn't care because she loves her iPhone, and I accept that.

To be honest, I love that both ecosystems can co-exist. I use a Motorola and an iPhone and it works with some caveats haha. But I mean, that’s why we have 3th party apps to work with.

You're not missing much by not using an iPhone, I had the 3g when it came out, went right back to BlackBerry, moved to Android when BB collapsed. Tried iPhone again around the 9th gen, and came back to Android. Mix in a Palm Pre and some Nokia Symbian OS phones during their hey-day.
