It's a big difference. The B787 family is a long-range aircraft versus the B737 is a medium-range.

Excellent trip report. The best part of all your videos is the subtitles. This button under the window is a source of most complaints because flight attendants turn the windows opaque from their control panel which is very annoying for passengers who want to look outside the windows.

I have never had a better experience on other airline vs Japanese airlines. JAL and ANA are always my pick when flying internationally, even if it means connecting via Japan. The airports are also immaculate every time I pass through or visit. That's probably giving too much credit, but I can only speak about my experiences.

1:50: If you buy in advance it actually costs the same as the Shinkansen ticket. If you don't have a lot of luggage and enjoy flying I think it's worth just for the views of Osaka and Tokyo from the sky. Both airports are very conveniently located, unlike KIX and NRT. And honestly it's slightly faster than taking the Shinkansen, especially if you don't get the faster train model, but the slower ones.

Although truely few foreign visitors use Japanese a domestic flight from Tokyo to Osaka, actually not a few Japanese locals use flight when travelling these two megalopolises. You are familiar with its boarding process because it is just same as in Western countries. Limousine bus from airport to city centre does not usually require any reservation. If you get off a plane at Itami airport - now purely a domestic airport - you can experience to ride monorail and commuter train (Hankyu Takarazuka line) to central Osaka. You can see another interesting spectacles of Japanese daily life.

That anti-UV light on the window in the airplane is pretty cool. I like it. Also, love the sight of Mount Fuji; it's awesome! And the kitkat flavors were quite nice too. 11:13 What a cute robot! 16:27 A few months ago, I ate green tea flavor of choco pie. I wonder if it's the same with matcha tea flavor (probably). And the anko look delicious :)

Really highlights how even though the flight is technically quicker, a train is so much more convenient when you take into account you don't have to travel to and from the airport, check in, security etc etc.

子どもの頃両親と1度だけ大阪→東京の飛行機に乗りましたが全く記憶がありません😂 羽田の江戸小路？はセントレアの中と似ていますね。小牧からFDA(JAL提携)をよく利用していましたがおやつとドリンクのスポンサーが豊富で小さな楽しみです。食いしん坊な場面これからも楽しみにしています。❣️🐕️

Great flight. That's surprising me, Osaka International Airport or Osaka Itami didn't serve international flight again since Osaka Kansai opened. I think Osaka Itami still serve International flight from Neighbouring countries.

When the cost is more than the shinkansen, i really don't see why this flight exists? Any time saved is lost through the airport procedures. Although i'm sure LCC offer much cheaper prices.

Chances are the Ramen is pre made possibly in a food factory and all the machine does is heat it up, but I could be wrong. The QR code on the container makes it look that way.

I must admit, I've often wondered why Japan still bothers with domestic flights when the Shinkansen is an objectively better option. With the exception of far-flung ocean-blocked destinations like Hokkaido, Kyushu, and Okinawa, there doesn't seem to be much point in domestic flights when you can simply take the faster, less expensive, more direct, more frequent Shinkansen. Is there something I'm missing here? Also, why do you still need to pay Shinkansen fare for a flight? Why the same surcharge for the bullet train's direct competition? All that said though, I am quite impressed with JAL's Economy offerings on display here. Certainly better than the flying cattle trucks we have in the USA. Though credit to Delta for trying to catch up with the rest of the world for Economy comfort.

Not everywhere is connected to Shinkansen. If you are connecting, flying is often faster. Also depending where you are in Tokyo or Osaka, it might be faster to get to an airport vs the Shinkansen station. Even on Honshu, if say you wanted to go to Osaka from Sendai, or Tokyo to Fukuoka, you would probably need 4-6 hrs by Shinkansen. But a flight is just over an hr.

Stranded and no carry on with a change of clothes. Some airports have paid 🚿 but no place for laundromat. So then you can get fresh pair of socks.
