You don't have to go Poland to try Polish food, although it's true that the atmosphere might be a bit different. However, if you live in the UK, perhaps in the Nottingham area, I would be very happy to invite you to a Polish dinner that I will prepare myself according to the old recipes of our ancestors.🙂

Kiełbasa is simly a sausage. It even does not mean any type of it. The one you ate is kiełbasa śląska and is the most common sausage used for barbacue grill.

You need to try kraft polish kiełbasa produced in some small factory. Poland is well known from vodka, pierogies and kiełbasa :)

Andre, now that it's getting warmer, I highly recommend you go to the Polish seaside. There are many attractions, interesting climate, clean air with iodine. I recommend towns such as Rewal, Pobierowo, Pustkowo, Trzęsacz. If you like larger cities, choose Międzyzdroje and Kołobrzeg.

I recommend you to go to Jeżów, and in Jeżów you have Arboretum and Kolej Wąskotorowa. Arboretum is like a park full of beautiful trees and flowers and Kolej Wąskotorowa is like an old train station with small trains, you buy ticket and you can travel by train, on the end of the road is like free time on green place with grill and you can taste Kielbasa, later you travel back to train station(you have to check website what days and time you can experience that) :)

Kiełbasa is simply "sausage'. Most popular would be likely Śląska (silesian one) - you really can't go wrong with Śląska on a grill party. That is for hot ones. If you want a cold snack, go with Myśliwska - "Hunter's". The problem is that today in shops Myśliwska will be mostly pork, but if you can find original one (Wild Boar meat) you will love that.

this reminds me of my first encounter with English sausage, I'm not a sausage fan but it tasted like a sponge, it took me a few years to try another one, but when i did, I liked it, those sponge sausages should be banned.
