Its also a "delayed" solution, manual states that you need a steady target for "2 seconds" so if you're cranking on the stick to get on target or the target is cranking/evading, the likelihood of you hitting is low. Also I don't recommend firing at any range beyond about 600-800 on the sight, the probability of hits is extremely low unless its a bomber. I do wish they would add some variability to the cannon pattern too, the 2 cannons shouldn't be synchronized, but in DCS they are. would really help with those oblique angles so the target can't just zip through your spray pattern. If you or they are jinking or for snapshots, I like to press and hold the cannon 300-600 button, which puts it to 600 meter fixed.

@@Munky332yea for snapshots I just eyeball it lol, it ain’t a great radar gunsight but it’s better than most of its peers

@@Dr_JebusIf you didn’t know, there is a switch that will auto lock anybody in roughly your hud out to about 7 miles, called telemetry mode TEL, very useful

Have you tried uncaging the seeker head? It's the same keybind as the 300-600m cannon range.

Oh also if you using sidewinders make sure you flip the magic/sidewinder selection switch to sidewinder

I don't think that switch (the one marked EXT) is to flip between Magics or Sidewinders. I think it is just to power whatever wingtip missile you have. Unless you're talking about another switch.@@Apple-om5mr

That switch is an on/off switch: its "Marche" (On) and "Arret" (Off) -- I believe its technically more of a "Missile Prep" switch, and may be badly translated to "Sidewinder or Magic". Some of the other manuals I've seen online (one I can remember off top of my head is the South African F1CZ) lists it as sidewinder cooling, with it labeled as "SW" on the panel with "ON" and "OFF" positions. Also, you should leave that switch OFF until engagement, don't set it on the ground; certain missiles that have cooling via gas only have a limited time they can operate before running out. I believe the 550 and 530 both have coolant, and some of the Aim-9's had peltier cooling (which should be unlimited). Its possible that the code may have been copy-pasted for the Aim-9s to have limited cooling capacity, even if not accurate (ie, a bug). So give that a whirl, leave off until in combat zone.
