👋 Aussie here! I saw those battered potatoes on another US fair video on here about two years ago and THEY ARE REAL indeed! There's just a state by state naming war for them here, they're either called potato scallops (cause they're a thick scalloped slice similar to ones used for a creamy cheesy potato bake/potato au gratin) in New South Wales (where Sydney is), Queensland or Western Australia, they're called potato cakes in Victoria or potato fritters in South Australia or Northern Territory! 😁

@OrdinaryAdventures That's so odd! Maybe he's confused over them being called battered potatoes instead? If not that then I'm not sure if your friend frequents the beach or not cause they're a common item to buy from a takeaway or fish n chip shop and have been around for 70+ years! They're a fish n chip shop staple and many people prefer them than hot chips/fries with added on chicken salt (Aussie invention too, a morish seasoning) then you go sit at the beach burning your mouth eating them fresh and hot is a common childhood memory for many Aussies 😋😁

Exactly. Country fairs were all about contests of baking, animal husbandry, sewing talents, horse riding, quilting, etc etc….. still is like that in most smaller towns. My daughter was 4H with her horse and won a ton of ribbons.

You did great getting on the Ferris Wheel. I hate those things. Watching the sphere going up and down, made me wonder if that was the one that the elastic broke on one side. So yes Peter, rides do break, and it seems it is happening a lot more.

You have far more courage than me, both food and ride wise! 😁😎 We used to enter food and crafts in the county fair because we got free tickets to the fair that way! Don't know if they still do that though, it's been awhile. The food is always an adventure! Omg!! Y'all need to come to the State Fair of Texas in the beginning of October, you buy $50 worth of tickets, you get $50 in tickets... And you can use them on food and rides, to play carnival games you can buy a refill card of how much you need to play, love the vids, come see us..

Battered potato is an argument in Australia. It is a thick slice of potato dipped in batter and deep fried. Some states call it a potato scallop, some a potato fritter others a potato cake. We also do the same thing with Pineapple slices, with that is Tasmania puts salt on them, while in South Australia we used to put icing sugar on them.

Why am I just watching this? Y’all need to come to the Houston livestock show and Rodeo they have a huge fair maybe a little bit bigger than the OC one and they do have everything fried, like you think it and they have it. Oh and the turkey legs are the best! From Feb-March I believe, y’all definitely need to check it out you won’t regret it.

Peter I am not a serial killer 😂😂 I like a lil crisp to my marshmallow lol. Now on to other things. You all are absolutely right, THE FAIR IS EXPENSIVE! I was hoping you would of showed THE ART OF MUSIC. It was a great experience to walk thru. You all need to go back and check that out. The other thing I was hoping you would try is a drink I found hidden by the shopping building. These cocktails were in a can but they were very good. The one we tried was called KOKOMO’s mystique, you will not be disappointed 😊😂. Oh yeah my take in that fried s’mores was a lil different than yours, it tasted like a pancake lol but I still liked it. And yes it was missing that burnt marshmallow lol.

as an australian, we do have "battered potatoes" in a sense but we call them potato cakes/potato scallops and traditionally are bought from fish and chip shops. they don't have all the fancy toppings though, literally just sliced potatoes covered in batter 😊

A buddy bench is a bench you sit on when you’re lonely and looking for a friend. People see you on the bench and may join you or invite you to do something. I only know this because they had them at my sons school for kids during recess.

Perfectly Golden Roasted Marshmallows ROCK! But you should try Roasting an Easter PEEP! The sugar gets hard on the outside & the Marshmallow is Molten on the inside! 🥰I buy tons of them to save for Summer & Fall Campfires😁In all the different pretty colors.💛🩷💜🩵💚

Marshmallows: char it til burnt, take the burnt skin off to reveal super gooey inside. Put it back in the fire to burn it again, repeat!!

Forgot you did shows like this sometimes. I was looking for a Carnival food show on KZfaq. Anyway I ordered Buffalo Pot Stickers from a pizza place by me. I really wasn’t a fan. I am a dumplings carnosaur too 😂. I think they are in the same family anyway.

The secret to the OC fair is to go on Wednesday and Thursday and get the unlimited ride deal + 2 games. Ride everything from 11:00 am till 8:00 p.m. for only $49! You have to buy the wristband before 5 pm.

Come to Ma this month is the Big E in WestSpringfield Ma! Look up the Eastern States Exposition!!! Its amazing!!! Fried mushrooms, donut burgers and more! The Maine baked potato and Lobster Mac!!! Mmmmmmm dont walk run to the Big E!!

We were in Dallas, Tx, for the Chosen Con. It was amazing! Little did we know the state fair was in progress, so we had to go! You all HAVE to go. They had so much food! We tried the original corny dog. NOPE, it's not good. We didn't try any more fried food, but they had fried butter, fried beer, and fried cheesecake, among other fried foods.

The Calgary Stampede which is a massive Rodeo and Fair gets some really bizzare foods in each year. One of the more memorable ones was scorpion pizza. Im not bold enough to try the bug stuff, but i did try the Prairie oyster ice cream a few years back (if you know you know) This year I tried Elk pepperoni pizza with frssh spinach. It was very tasty

6:38 Funny about Buddy Bench name joke. Also- schools use buddy benches on playgrounds where a kid that is alone or lonely can opt to sit on the bench and another kid will come over and offer to be their buddy.
