For me, I kept my stance wide, left foot in front, didn't hop or move my feet, left hand pulling near the bottom of the hammer, right hand pushing near the head. My brother and I won that at 12 and 13 when fully grown men couldn't.
@andybanan19926 ай бұрын
Yupp, and you want to have your hands all the way at thr tip of the handle as it connects, and the lower you get your body the better, and you want to start as high as you can, even going all the way up on your toes. Used to have to smash up rocks to make them fit into a crusher in my previous line of eork. So swinging a sledgehammer a few hours each day you make damn well sure you wont have to swing the hammer twice on the same rock sample.

Just for reference, there’s a spring underneath the mechanism you hit with the hammer. If you hit the mechanism too hard, a lot of your power will go into the spring underneath it and not transfer enough power to ring the bell. Don’t put any power behind the hammer just let the weight of the hammer come down and do the work and you’ll ring the bell.

The key is to use leverage. Hit the plunger arm on its extreme end, ie, the very tip of the corner closest to you. Some swings you might even glance off and hit the ground. I used to be able to do these regularly and at 165 lbs, I was not particularly strong. You can see in the video he is hitting the rubber contact point in the middle. That is not ideal. when he got 90% it was because he hit it closer to the edge.

@dasy2k16 ай бұрын
Having known someone who owned one of these it's more about angle than sheer power. The pin you have to hit has a rounded top but has to be hit perfectly straight to not bind up in the tube it runs in.. (the kiddie one has a much larger striking area) If you can get the hammer to fall perfectly vertically onto the pin with the head absolutely flat it should ring the bell without needing a huge amount of force

You have to swing it like an axe or sledgehammer. I always ring the bell, all 3 times, then the guy usually says "OK, once more" so I do it, and ring it again. My guess is he's got a remote control switch which operates a magnet or something to slow it down. That's the time you have to pound it the hardest!!

@irishfiddlestix2 ай бұрын
There's a tension screw on the back side of the fulcrum. You can screw it up and down. When it is screwed up all the way, it causes the lever to have most of the slack taken out of it. Therefore when you hit it with a hammer it's only jumping a few inches. If you screw the tension screw all the way down, the lever will swing 12 to 18 in when hit with a hammer. These games are rigged. No matter how hard you hit them, it is almost impossible to ring the bell unless the tension screw is set properly. Source: I used to run one of these games on the road at various events.
