The rectangular carpenter's pencils don't freeze and don't roll away when you set them down. Sharpen them with the small blade (pen blade) on your pocket knife.

Fun fact: Carpenters pencils are also used as measurement short cuts, ¼ inch thick x ½ inch wide. I once watched a documentary on carpenters pencils... Don't ask.

After Hurricane Katrina. I arrived home to find that there had been 18 inches of sewer water in the house. My home was under insured so I learned and bout 20 giant totes and a how to book at the Home Depot and met a dear man who had purchased a chain saw and needed work. I used fiberglass tape on the sheetrock seams and learned at 60 how to tape and float it. I learned that when it is dried a bit to use a damp large sponge to smooth it instead of sandpaper. Less dust for my Asthma. I also was advised to get the sheetrock coated with fiberglass instead of paper which is food for termites. I was also saved from Chinese Drywall which in Louisiana destroyed copper pipes. The Lord protected me from the crooks as I worked as a civilian at the police dept and saw many folks cheated. I am loving your channel and watching your family. Blessings to you and yours.

You need to get yourself a snowmobile suit. They are AMAZING in the bitter cold... I practically lived in mine, in Michigan. Don't have a ton of use for it here in Tennessee..thank The Lord!, but it's nice for getting used to sudden dips in temperature before the Winter sets in.

You could take those piles and mix it with your sheep poop/nearby farms manure in one spot, and turn it into great material for your garden next year with a tarp over it. Would maybe take a day moving your piles and if you get your poop delivered no time at all to get it going 😅 Better than burning valuable nutrients given your soil is very hard and pale.

When you tile the shower area spray a mist of water on the cement board so the wall doesn't pull the moisture out of the mortar and not allow the tile to hold after a few hot showers.

One of the most important lessons in life to learn is that everything is temporary...including life itself. So difficult times, bad weather, slowed progress, or having to live under difficult conditions is all temporary. It lasts only for a while until you find a way to overcome the problems or until something changes. So when you find yourself in a status that you aren't too happy about, just go with it and make the best of it as you work to overcome it. It truly wouldn't be all that bad to just "hunker down" for the winter months and take a bit of break from your constant construction. I understand that needs to happen after the bath is done but that will happen soon enough. Please give some though to relaxing by a warm fire, helping the kids with home school, and maybe doing something you enjoy during the indoors time you will be spending together during the winter. I have confidence you will be 100% better off come spring!

May have to talk to your neighbor and see if the hemp or biodegradable twine will work with his bailer. If the cost is more you could help offset the cost so your animals do not ingest the nylon twine. Not being tree huggers, just trying to keep the digestive tract clear.

If you folks haven't seen one of their oldest daughter's (Nevada Souza) videos, you are really missing out on something special. Not only is she adorably sweet in her interactions with her siblings, you see something that, sadly, is a rarity today, with children doing their chores proudly and being thankful for what they have got.

Getting so close! I noticed that the taping mud was actually too firm, try stirring in a little bit of water, in the tappers box and it will flow much easier! And they carry 20minute mud for quick projects: which is easier most of the time, but it really means 20minutes of work time. And then you can apply another coat. Another tip if you use a tapping sponge, you can feather the edges, as well as smoothing, without the worry of the dust. Keep up the good work God bless amen.

We bought a 680 sf cabin in the mountains of Colorado. We totally remodeled 🏡 it. It was a learning process for us too. We had my parents come to help, they were our version of How To - KZfaq💖 🧰💰🔨. My Mom took care of our 18 month old Sweet girl while the rest of us worked. It went into the early winter there too. We had a very inefficient little wood stove in the living room that we kept burning all the time. You are doing great. 👏🏻

Well sure you made it in time.. got a warm place to live with running water and it’s not a camper.. I would call that a success and some awesome scenery to look at this winter from inside your toasty house ... SCORE
