Trying To Cure My Chronic Fatigue (ME/CFS) & Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS)

Today I'm talking about my chronic illnesses, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) and what seems to be Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) and what I'm doing to try and cure them. I'm sharing my research on these illnesses as well as my recent learnings about another illness called Beriberi which has very similar symptoms and is caused by a Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) deficiency. My intent in talking about chronic illness is not to complain but to hopefully bring hope to anyone out there also suffering from an "invisible" illness. Hope, that there IS an answer out there!!
I am determined to get to the bottom of it and I'm willing to be the "guinea pig" and try out some things to see if I can improve or clear up my symptoms. Even though I've been sick for over 10 years, most of those years I was not actively looking for solutions. At the start of my illness, at the age of 17, I was desperate to get better! But after my tests kept coming back normal and there seemed to be no answers from doctors I just sort of learned to adapt to my new "life" and stopped trying to get better. Things had sort of mellowed out after a while so it wasn't until I got some flareups in recent years that I began on down a road of my own, researching, testing, and attempting to solve the mystery again.

I believe it was the benfotiamine that healed you. People take megadose benfothiamine. I use to take small amounts (300-500mg) of benfothiamine. As soon as I followed the instructions of a woman inn the comments of Dr.Berg Video..... felt great! Brand new. I took 1500mg benfothiamine at 1 time. The lady who was cured who left the comment said she took 1800 MG pm a empty belly at 1 time. She continued this dose for I believe 9 days or more. I'm sorry it was not a dr.berg video comment, it was EON nutrition. He's B1 expert

Ehlers-Danlos, Dysautonomia, POTS. I have had the blotchy legs my whole life, even when I was young and able to bicycle up to 100 miles a week. Now I can walk around the block a few times with effort. Hoping the B1 is key. It really does flummox me that doctors find us "bothersome" instead of trying to help. These are illnesses that don't make docs money, eh?

I retired at the age of 53 due to extreme fatigue., both mentally and physically. I have 5 doctors and was taking 20 prescriptions. I started on a MTHFR protocol and now, at age 56, I'm the fittest person in the gym....literally. I had a guy, about 40, very fit and stronger than me, ask me my age. When I told him, he said that I was his idol!. I'm sitting at 13.0% body fat right now, sporting a nice set of abs for the first time in my life and I was a wrestler, surfer and Navy Diver. @@mcgragor1 This will be VERY abbreviated. I avoid Folic Acid like the plague. Instead, I take Methylfolate and/or Folinic Acid. I avoid Cyanocobalamin, instead inject Hydroxocobalamin and orally take Methylcobalmin. I also have an extensive supplement list which includes: NAC, MSM, TMG, Choline, B2, B3, B5, B1, Zinc, Magnesium, Iodine and much more. Yesterday and the day before, I ate 1 lbs. of liver. That's all 4 pieces of a 1 lbs frozen pack. Normally, I eat only 2. That about 100 grams per slice. On days that I don't cook liver, I eat about 75 grams of liverwurst. I also eat sardines, oysters or herring every day. I workout 5 times per week, some times 6.

I just discovered this myself. Very glad you found this when you are young. I have been fighting chronic problems for over 30 years. This has made a huge difference for me. I am only 3 weeks in and the difference is noticeable. People are crap. They don't get it and don't give a damn. Doctors are pretty damn worthless when it comes to this problem. It is too much work and not obvious to them. They take the easy way out 99 % of the time and will claim it is in your head or you are mental. It gives them a pass on their ineptness and screws you in the process because every doc you see thereafter won't challenge what is written! Keep seeking, you can make it to health.

Regular doctors have ONLY thrown drugs at my symptoms. I was UNAWARE that ALL grain was causing numerous problems in my body AND I am allergic to ALL dairy. Hi Christy, I just found your channel and I also have POTS. I think maybe a lot of your symptoms the brain fog, extreme fatigue , ECT.. are probably coming from the POTS . I deal with all of those symptoms daily and every day is different. I would recommend seeing a neurologist to have a tilt table test done for a definite diagnosis. After maybe they can help you figure out the best way to get it under control, or find out the cause. Then hopefully if they get your heart rate down some you won't have such bad cfs symptoms. I've been struggling for over a year now and I am still seeing different specialist to try and find the cause and a treatment plan. Some days are better than others but it's a hard life to live when you have POTS. Don't give up (that's what I have to tell myself daily) you will find a doctor that will listen. I go through the same thing, them telling me I'm to young for all of these problems. Keep us updated! ☺

Great info thanks! I haven't been diagnosed with POTS but I definitely have/had most of the symptoms. Here are some things your video reminded me of: Like yourself, I finally/recently figured out that B12 was messing with me and now you have convinced me just to focus on B1. (I follow Dr Berg too oddly enough :) I was having problems like reflux and swallowing issues(EOE?) while taking B-Complex as well (makes sense). There are some interesting studies about SIBO and POTS. I started taking Alpha Lipoic Acid a year ago after losing my sense of taste and smell (likely Covid related). Alpha Lipoic Acid seems to have radically helped my gut issues (SIBO?). I also have a hiatal hernia that has calmed down considerably ...more so after ditching B12 and/or B-complex vitamins. My vision can vary a lot when I get up in the morning. Anybody else? I recently got a script for VUITY eye drops. They help somewhat but there must be something else triggering all of these silly issues.

It actually would make me rapidly drowsy and then actually fall asleep when I'm an insomniac normally. Now since I've read more I want to try again cause I'm wondering if that was an energy chemical cycle resuming specifically in my brain where Sulbutiamine is targeted and overwhelming me. Gonna try just high dose normal B1 first. Great comment from you BTW

you might use this with an ounce of olive oil. this will allow the sulbutiamine to enter the brain, as fat soluble nutrients need fat to get in. note: Ivermectin is a Japanese development from the 1960's. I have received some of the horse Ivermectin and I am keeping it in the freezer to keep me off of a ventilator. some one should write a short book about the nutrients and medicines of the Japanese. they don't copy, they improve. china will be in big trouble if they mess with Japan.

John, you may be not taking enough benfotamine. I've been following elliot Overton and he talks about high dose- meaning 1000mg and more per day. Currently I am taking 2.5g a day in 500 mg doses. Superb amazing results. Also necessary is a good absorbable magnesium, b complex and potassium as I noticed the high dose b1 causes fatigue crashes which stop altogether with extra potassium. The b1 is life changing.

Coffee (caffeine) is one of the anti-thiamine factors. It apparently blocks Thiamine uptake. If your body can get & retain Thiamine it may not be too much of an issue, but it can make a deficient state far worse. Elliot Overton describes in his video that what is known as Adrenal Fatigue is not due to weak adrenals but to Thiamine deficiency causing Cortisol issues. He also points out that it can take up to a year for Thiamine supplementation to restore health in some people, so not to give up too early. Supplementation can also exacerbate certain symptoms temporarily at the start over the course of a few weeks as the body starts to use the Thiamine to purge toxins, etc.

I have CFS/ me. I’ve noticed big changes in my symptoms for the better. I’ve been reading a book by Dr Sarno called the divided mind and doing an app called curable. As well as listening to others who are basically recovered from a mind/body approach to the illness. For me it started when I was going threw a lot of stress from different things. All the sudden it felt like I couldn’t hold anymore stress so I snapped. This all happend within a couple days and have had CFS every since.

Wow my illness started after i abused my body for 2 to 3 years just because i can... Sports, bodybuilding, college, long stressful motorcycle rides in a no traffic rule country, consuming foods that irritated and finally destroyed my gut, sprinting sessions, hiit etc etc... Ive been sick from 2015 and i have barely any little physical activity, i have put on 60 kilograms or 130 pounds of fat, I used to love life.....love new things, love technology, love movies,tv, songs etc. I usually was excited about every little thing now i dont even feel excited about big things. I cant even walk for a 100 meters without passing out or puking , all my muscles cramp up while doing any kind of activity. I fucked up big time. I am unmotivated like a sack of potatoes. All my old clothes dont fit me even my shoes have stopped fitting. I dont know what to do......

I’m facing the crushing reality that I have POTS. I’ve had up and down feelings of illness with being fine in between since March 2020 but in the last 5 weeks I haven’t pulled out of this horror story. I’ve been in and out of emergency and yesterday the ER doctor diagnosed me with POTS. This has to be verified by a specialist using the tilt table. I can move very slowly and carefully across the house but as I stand my heart increasingly becomes erratic and it feels as though I’ll pass out. I have an Apple Watch that tells me that I’ve gone from 45 bpm to well over 120 bpm. Even after lying down it takes a while for my limbs to recover. I had a theory that this was caused from a spinal issue and had a cervical MRI done. I have one bulging disc on the C4/C5 area but I gather it’s not posing a considerable issue to surrounding nerves. I am going to attend a spinal care clinic to rule out Craniocervical Instability which causes symptoms like what you and I have. I also learned about bilateral adrenal medullary hyperplasia, which a man called Doug Lindsay faced - incredibly rare. For me, I’m trying to figure out what organ or part of our body causes this, rather then treating POTS itself. I am too depressed to think that this is the rest of my life, with two young children that I enjoyed partaking in activities with. If we can determine the root cause then maybe we can treat that and consequently treat the POTS. And no doctor will help. We have to learn enough to ask the right experts and then tell our doctor to fill in the requisition form to see said experts. A sad but very real situation.

@@rachelarc8837 Allithiamine is the best form of thiamine hands down, with the highest bioavailability. I think it also work better because it crosses the blood brain barrier, energizing the brain which can now focus on repair. Damage that causes pots is usually happens in the brain. Rarely does it start with the nerves. See the brain has the autonomic nervous system which switches from fear, fight, flight, and rest recover and digest. If one of these branch breaks due to a thiamine deficiency eg. surgery, alcoholism, you could be stuck in the fear, fight or flight state. This will cause irregular heart beats, abnormal sweating and digestion and yes cfs. With alithiamine it is also important to take alpha lipoic acid, a b complex and magnesium in the hope you can repair the nerves and make it permanent. I'm also going to give them a try but we don't have Allithiamine (closest subtitute is sulbutiamine) in South Africa. I'm going to include benfotiamine for good measure. It deals more with the nerves outside the brain and I'm going to use sulbutiamine for the brain.

Also, you may experience a paradoxical increase in symptoms early on, but they should subside the longer you take to b-1. All these supplements are available on Amazon.

It’s rough. I’ve dealt with it for years. I don’t tell people they don’t get it. I gave up on western doctors. It’s like a mish mash of symptoms. Funny I just got that form of b1 yesterday will see Thank you for your video.

Try adding Alpha Lipoic Acid with the B1 and Magnesium and CoQ10 and 1 teaspoon of baking soda mixed with water two times a day, that combination helped my mitochondrial disease tremendously. A month ago I was almost wheelchair bound because I was so weak I couldn't hardly walk more than 15-20 feet without passing out. I am now full of energy running around everywhere, give it a try it really works.

I had many of these same issues along with nerve pain and spasms for 10+ years. I solved the issue by taking 300mg of benfotamine and 50mg of Thiamine twice a day along with B12. It still isn't perfect as I'm only a few weeks in but I only really notice it still when I miss a dose. I spent many thousands of dollars with doctors and they did nothing but make me worse, I found this on my own.

Hello there! I’ve gone through similar things that you have I also have mthfr one copy of each A1 and C6 Re the blood pooling in your legs Are you hyper mobile ? I am and have stretchy fascia too I’m wondering if it’s borderline elers danlos or hyper mobility spectrum disorder 🤔 After a weird virus in 2016 I got peripheral small fibre neuropathy whick absolutely floored me for three years ending up with gastroparesis I did start to heal when I went low carb and dairy free and took high dose methylated b supplements whick would have contained thiamine (b1) My b12 was low when I had all the nerve issues too so although my thiamine was never tested it’s likely that it would have been low before I started taking my b sups People with the mthfr gene mutation need a lot more b vits than the average to methylate properly How are you going now ?

You're a brave young woman. If you don't fix it your self it's not getting fixed! I would bet the underlying cause of your health problems is insulin resistance. I also subscribe to Dr. Berg. Bottom line, stay away from toxic food, look into keto diet and intermittent fasting. Having taken the same Journey as you l have more to say but don't give up on your self. Don't trust Doctors! Keep track of what don't work, it will eventually lead you to what does. Your not alone!

Your on the right track but you need to try thiamine Tetrahydrofurfuryl Disulfide also known as fursultiamine. Look up Elliot Overton on KZfaq. He’s made some fantastic videos all about POTS, Beriberi, CFS and fibromyalgia. It works!

Christy Lyn thanks, lady. I am trying. I’m taking my active B 12. It helped a little with energy initially, but my days begin with fatigue and brain fog. By evening, it’s a lot better, but returns every morning. Hope you find something that helps you soon. Looking forward to an update!

Love Dr. Berg.Thank you for sharing your experience with this. Right there with you.👍 I have gall stones and also liver stones so I'm starting preparation to do the liver/ gall bladder flush according to Andreas Moritz. I bought his book, The Amazing liver/ Gall Bladder Flush. He was vegetarian, but I do much better with Keto/ Carnivore. I had stones long before I went to this way of eating and several gb attacks which is what led me to Dr. Berg. I did the flush 4 years ago and many stones were expelled but i did not do the recommended monthly flushes until they were gone. I tried higher dose B1 but it caused palpitations so I will have to revisit that after I do the liver flush so I can focus on balancing my electrolytes as well. B1 can increase the need for potassium & so does Keto.

Christy Lyn I know...I will try this year Ozone therapy Ten Pass and will get tested for pots as I’m already positive at tachycardia bouveret syndrome and hyperventilation syndrome. I just ordered the B1 to test it out. I want to avoid beta blockers! They prescribed them to me a while back but I never took them!
