Hello engineers. I made this video so you can see proof that I'm an engineer. Btw this channel is secret. If you're here it means you are OG and I don't have any big plans for this channel I'll probably post once per year.

So this channel is kind of secret. I just document the "official" video and listen to your ideas in the meantime. Kind of like I've done as community posts. Except I realised it's 2022 and text posts might not be the most efficent way to show ideas and solve problems

You could knock out the tiles quickly by getting backsplash panels. They are meant to quickly put up backsplashes (the tile on the walls above kitchen counters) without having to individually set each small tile.

Have you thought about starting a company to make unique and odd pianos for people that would want it? Because I think you'd be pretty successful in that area of expertise. Really though, I love these weird and fun projects you do so I hope that someday you will be able to take your creativity to a much larger scale

Just like RGB makes your game pc faster, maybe add a bunch of RGB to make the piano sound better ;) (or make it even change pattern based on the tone/melody of the song being played)

Mattias i think u can either buy a lot of resin epoxy and pour or apply it on the piano or paint with a oil wall paint because it literally repels water(but make sure to wait for 8 to 9 hours to fully cure, At that time make sure to wear a mask because its gonna smell , im telling you because i have experience with oil paints and those smell till they are cured)

Can't you paint the entire outer black or something so you don't have to sand it? This will be a banger!
@MattiasKrantzshorts2 жыл бұрын
I’ve already sanded it. So I just need to stain it really! I considered painting the entire piano black but then I saw how many parts and details a piano actually has so that’s for another day:)

I recently dismantled a player upright to get out of a basement and we didn’t wanna restring the entire piano so we kind of just chop a little bit of a soundboard and now if you want to play it you’re gonna have to build an entirely new soundboard and restring it because of the support bolts that are back there not a fun time. This hurt me so much

Painting the legs and the body together is probably an easier way to match color than trying to mix the body paint to match the existing leg paint.

Hey Mattias, being an engineer you most likely already know this, but I read that you need to brace/support the pin block when restringing or it could sag/bow. I don't know much about it yet though because I haven't gotten that far in my piano tech course and reading. Good luck and i look forward to the pooliano!

The tiles do seem too much work. Maybe a stencil to mimic the look? Otherwise just blue is fine
@daraghshalloe85212 жыл бұрын
If your trying to match the finish on the sides again. I'd say your best bet is glossy red oak varnish. But if you get a good picture you might be able to colour match in a hardware store👍
@MattiasKrantzshorts2 жыл бұрын
Hmmm red oak I don’t remember seeing in Swedish stores. Do you think a combo off mahogony (seems redish) and a darker wood would be close?
@daraghshalloe85212 жыл бұрын
Honestly that's hard to say. In theory you could end up with a really similar looking result at first however often with stains like mahogony they will darken even more over time. So what looks desirable now might not look so good in the future. I'm in Ireland so I'm not entirely sure what varnishes/stains will be available to you but if you have brands available to you like dulux you can use there online colour charting

@MaeBlythe2 жыл бұрын
You may be able to find something that looks like the tile design for aboveground pools! It's too expensive to make an aboveground using masonry, so they just use a giant latex tarp as a liner :) might even help make it more waterproof.

You could use a matte finish/varnish (be sure to use a deep penetrating one, it helps against moisture and protects the wood not only outside) on the outside of the piano, that way, you dont need to be as acurate (you can see uneven application really well in gloss) and I think it would look amazing (contrast between glossy water and matte finish outside)

@jjbankert2 жыл бұрын
Just to be sure, have you checked how heavy the water will be and if the bottom will be able to support this? There are only legs in a few spots so the wood in between might bend or break. Edit, some quick napkin math: 1.5m*2m*10cm volume of water is already 300kg
