I got a chuckle over the phone book reference lol I certainly remember those big outfits! We still have one, tho it's a lot smaller than they used to be. Very nice medico and boy that churchwarden stem really does something for that pipe 👍

@jespiping 5 ай бұрын
Haha! It's always a treat when my brain takes a quick left turn and shoots something like that out my mouth😆 Yeah the long stem completely transformed the pipe and it's a proper churchwarden now! Love it! I was super excited to find that Medico. Excellent little pipe. Thanks for spending your time with me Dwight😊 take care

Ahhhh Velvet in a medico! Man after my heart. So the toppings are brown sugar and licorice. Now the older iteration at times I would get a boozey taste occasionally but the new STG version is def more brown sugar forward and licorice finish with cocoa undertones and a “musty note” that comes in and out that I just love. There is also a tad cherry you can pick up if smoked slow. My wife loves the roomnote of Velvet. Consistently says it’s the best. The only thing that has rivaled it recently is Cherry smash by Boswell. Keep smoking it in diffeeent pipes to see which one sings with it. Although I must admit velvet tends to shine in smaller bowls most often. 😊

Thought you'd enjoy that combo!😉 Ah ha! Brown sugar and licorice! That's what I'll think next bowl👍 the "musty" must be pushing my phone book button then haha!😆 The room note is definitely wonderful. Yeah it'll be rotated in different pipes throughout the pouch so I can taste exactly what's going on with it. Thanks for hanging out with me Pat😊enjoy your Sunday!

Great video! Yellow pages comment made me laugh. I also had a pouch of velvet I had yet to try. So after watching I went outside and had some. I very much enjoyed. No yellow pages but I got some cocoa, lots of stone fruit, pomegranate/apple. Happy piping and thanks for the inspiration.

It’s a good old codger blend. I’m a Sir Walter Raleigh guy every morning two bowls with black coffee to start the day. I remember I tried all the codger blend in 1978 when I started the pipe lifestyle at 16ish. Sometimes the Codger blends are better than the fancy blends. Nice pipes. Have a great day

Hi Jes, the pipe discoloration on your pipe is in the paint. This is because the head is small and when you light your pipe, combustion takes place at the head. and if I'm very honest this is quite normal, I have the same pipe, only my stem is different. so the only way to get rid of this is to sand the pipe and repaint it or oil it and polish it. I hope this information is useful to you...
@jespiping
@jespiping 4 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! You are the first to give me an explanation. I really appreciate it. Well, it's not hurting it right now so I guess I'll just keep smoking it until it gets really bad then consider refinishing it at a later time. Thanks again! Have a great weekend 😊 take care

Hiyas Jesse, That Medico Prince is a beauty. I have several Prince of Wales pipes and I just love em'. I think that they are sleek and elegant looking. A great find for sure. That Molina looks like it was made to be a Churchwarden. The elongated stem surely transformed its look. It was fun to watch you "digest and sleuth" your way through the flavor profile of Velvet. I'm not a huge fan of it, but it is an interesting occasional smoke. Enjoy yer Sunday and KPO ✓ Gary

Looks like the pipe has a varnished exterior, not much you can do to save that. They tend to fade and the varnish can bubble or crack. Those pipes were made by the millions. That's why the guys back then would just smoke the heck out of them, toss it in a drawer, then go to the pharmacy and buy a new one for a few dollars.
