Heather and I have been looking at some further objectives that would require multiple days, so we thought we'd try winter camping first. Overall a successful trip, but the weather was abnormally warm. Further testing required....

This has definitely confirmed my insane desire to combine my two favorite outdoor activities, backpacking and skiing! Can’t wait to plan a trip like this with my dad!

The Alps Tasmanian is a great intro winter tent! Put a lot of nights on mine before I moved on. If you end up doing more winter camps a sled will definitely make those packs less soul crushing too.

That's reassuring - thanks for sharing. Soul crushing it was, so I'll definitely look into a sled.

Cool video! A couple of things to help you...a bivy bag (even a light weight one) will add warmth to your bag and protect it from moisture when against the tent walls...I also bring a small sponge to wipe the condensation when tent-bound during storms...for cooking, you can build a nice kitchen by digging into the snow and making counter-tops, and storage shelves....become a snow architect!.....and the real difference in a 4 season tent is not just it's ability to deal with wind, but with the weight of heavy falling snow. Stake it out in a full-on storm and see how it stands up...also use dead-man anchors and your tent will be as stable as possible. Looking forward to this winter!! Have fun!

@@WilltoRide Mountain biking is not a major popular sport in Korea but it getting popular more and more recently they build more bike parks and at the same time not allowed to ride some mountain trails where there are many hikers. Hope everything back to normal I'd like to visit Korea too and ride some trails with old friends. Before that, I hope to ride with you guys next season😆

Daejeon, even though it is the city right next to my hometown I think I only visited once for Daejeon Expo when I was a schoolkid. if Heather grew up there at some point she probably knows it

do you ski with the camera around your neck usually?
@WilltoRide
@WilltoRide 3 жыл бұрын
yeah, as long as I'm not skiing anything too difficult. Sits tight with the peak design capture clip on the shoulder, and the neck strap is there for backup.

Put what are called 'skins' on the base of our skis, and ski up the hill. If you google/yt "what is ski touring" you'll see in more detail.

@@WilltoRide thanks for your reply! Is it a lake close to Beaver Foot Lodge? I'm looking on Google Maps but I can't find a place that resembles it. It looks like an amazing trip!
