I am a Paediatric Dietitian in the NHS and these tests are not accurate or evidence based. They identify foods that naturally lead to more GI symptoms however often these are not harmful. York in particular have been allowing these tests to be given to children without any advice as to swaps to avoid micronutrient deficiency. I had a patient in my clinic who had >20 foods to exclude, including all dairy and plant based alternatives, at puberty age. This is dangerous. If you would like advice as to food intolerance and gut health and are unable to see a medical professional please follow someone with experience in the area of healthcare and research such as Dr Megan Rossi.

I work for a gastroenterologist and I know he does not recommend people take these tests as they are not accurate and we wouldn't want people missing out on certain nutrients they need by following the results entirely. Proceed with caution on this one. Obviously you know your body and what may be triggers for your symptoms. Elimination and reintroduction is what a professional would recommend to properly identify any potential intolerances.

Rather than doing these tests I think you’d be better off booking an appointment with a dietician who specializes in digestion issues. I have IBS and mine helped me so much. Seeing an allergist also helped me because my 2 biggest triggers actually showed up on my skin prick test.

Just to let you know that these online food intolerance tests aren’t based on scientific evidence and are not recommended by the British Dietary Association (BDA). The NHS says they aren’t accurate

I’ve got IBS and I find it is triggered by stress and anxiety. I love doing lots of dancing and breathing exercises which really helps my symptoms :) I don’t eat gluten or dairy which really helps but I guess it’s different for everyone!

Just did this but thinking now I didn't prick hard enough as blood didn't absorb like that on the wand. Dabbed it several times.

Hi Katie! Thank you for doing this video. I also suffer a lot with stomach health issues and have been going back and forth to the doctors about it for 4 years and am still no closer to an answer. I know a lot of people are saying that these tests are not accurate and you are best just seeing a GP but as someone who has struggled for years, I think that if these tests in anyway help you identify what is triggering your symptoms then they are worth doing. Especially considering some people might not be able to afford to go private and have had little to no help through the NHS. I have recently purchased the allergy and the intolerance test with york test and was suprised that some foods that I consume a lot of have shown up on the allergy test. It might be worth you looking into that one too, as I was suprised to find out some allergy symptoms are really similar to intolerance symptoms. Hope you get on okay and figure out what it is soon! X

These really are not accurate. For proper results you need your GP to take bloods for a biochemistry lab where they will do IgE testing against allergens it’s called RAST testing. However it’s very expensive and not everyone meets the criteria.

The IgE doesn’t specify what you’re allergic to, just in you are having an allergic reaction. Doesn’t even work if you’ve not had the allergen

I’ve done this I think I messed up I didn’t swing my arm and didn’t produce that much blood but managed to cover the stick and already used everything. If these tests are accurate then they shouldn’t cost this much to do not worth the money
