This video was created to mark the 100th anniversary of the martyrdom of Tsar Nicholas II & His holy Family.

I am always brought to tears when watching films of this innocent family's murder at the hands of avaricious subhumans. They were protected from the harsh realities of Russia and by the time they realized that changes needed to be made, it was too late. So sad really. His mom escaped as did many amazing Royals who have been covered in other documentaries. Prayers of solace for all of them.

Besides, Duchesses Olga Konstantinovna(from the Romanov dynasty), wife of King George I was queen of Greece (1922).The time of her reign, she built two major hospital facilities (Russian hospital and Evangelismos hospital).

What horrors? It's true that some generals and great civil servants mistreated workers and peasants, it is true there were many inequalities and that reforms were urgently needed but I don't believe the Tsar wanted anything bad for his people. Maybe it was an error to enter WWI, but alliances with European powers forced to that. Could Russia have remained neutral? We'll never know. And remember how orthodox Serbia was attacked by the Austrian and German Empires. Could Russia not react? Even if one accepts and can understand the February revolution, it will never be acceptable to murder the family with the children. The Tsar already had renounced the crown. He could have been sent into exile like several kings and queens before and after him. But the Bolsheviks wanted to be sure no return was ever possible...That "Realpolitik" cannot justify a murder. Never.

My mother says, according to her understanding, Rasputin helped heal one of his kids and he thought all his people were as friendly as Rasputin. That's why he did nothing to stop the revolution.

He did actually nothing to Tsarevich Alexei (he had hemophilia) and because of the "HeaLiNg PoWeRs" Tsar Nikolai's wife trusted Rasputin so much that she gave him powers to rule Russia. I don't know what Tsar Nikolai said in this situation but it made things worse. In the beginning of WW1 there was something like "1 gun for 3 soldier" because Russia was the Sick Man of the Europe like Ottomans. Nikolai started to rule the army but there was no equipment either. Britons tried to send support from the Istanbul with the defeat of Ottomans, but Ottoman Empire gave them a great defense and there was nothing to do. They started to fall back and Tsar decided to abdicate. And gave the throne to his younger brother. But he declined the offer, because he knew that if he becomes the new Tsar, even if there's a little error he would be killed. Then Liberals revolted and take over the Russia, after Kerensky come to the power Lenin came to Russia and said "Let's have a election." And they made too- Liberals won. This made Lenin furious and revolted against the Liberal goverment and get a Fuck-Ton of armed forces. In the civil var, communist found the place that Nikolai and his family was living and they just killed all of Romanov's Except Kirill Vladimirovich and other Romanov's that already escaped.

A surprising- and disturbing- number of comments seem to be supportive of what was done to that family. Perhaps description of what was done to the Romanovs might change the attitude of those who excuse what happened in the basement of "The House of Special Purpose" in the pre-dawn hours of July 17, 1918. The inexperienced "executioners" failed to quickly dispatch the family with bullets so they bayoneted and clubbed their victims to death. That finally accomplished, they took the bodies outside to be stripped, dismembered, tossed into an abandoned mine shaft, doused with sulfuric acid, set afire and the remains covered over. Moreover, the older of the two Grand Duchesses had worked as nurses for wounded soldiers with their two younger sisters, and brother, also making their contributions on behalf of the Russian soldiers. Thus, so much for that family "deserving" of its' fate.

Император и вся его семья так себя вели, как будто в храме исполняли послушание! Да они для меня святые уже при жизни. Вы посмотрите на фото, ведь они находясь под арестом, наголо стриженные, улыбаются, дрова колят, мусор убирают, без всякого апломба, как будто всю жизнь этим занимались. Смиренно сносят все тяготы, как святые. В наше время зек работать не пойдёт, ему по статусу не положено, а императору и его семье было положено...

They may have been able to avoid captivity (and their eventual deaths) had the children not caught the measles. The family had been urged to leave as the riots unfolded in St Petersburg, but the children were too sick to be moved. Think about it, the one time in their lives that they are all sick at the same time and it happens just as a revolution takes place. It's almost like fate had arranged it all.

Also didn't Alexandra refuse Kaiser Wilhelm's offer of sanctuary due to the war? Says a lot about the Kaiser's character that he was willing to save his family no matter what. What happened to this family was tragic. However, at the same time, Tzar Nicholas was making some very bad decisions prior to the revolution. He did not make decisions that were in the best interest of the country and people. He wanted to maintain the monarchy and wasn't open minded enough to realize he could do both like the UK has.

Distance, time factor and taking too much of time to organise their safe evacuation were the main reasons for their killings. It was a lapse on the part of political power in chair in those times. I don’t know about the Russian’s sentiment about Vladimir Lenin, my intention isn’t to insult! And my point of view my biased, since I’m obsessed with the Romanov. Also, I don’t know much about the Russian history except for the Romanov! But (and here is my opinion) if I were Russian, I would hate Lenin and his revolution just for ending the monarchy! I know Tzar Nicholas wasn’t the best monarch, but it was such beautiful monarchy! Elegant, grace, poised, beautiful 🤩

That was a tragedy. The Tsar could have negotiate the terms of his abdication with the generals of the Imperial army, while the situation was not so bad. He and his family could be given asylum in Denmark or Switzerland, for example.

The whole family were murdered and that was a wrong deed. Yet, the tsar's decision to take part in WWI was thoroughly unwise and meant sending millions of unexperienced young people to death. Secondly, the old platitude that the British Royal family should/could have rescued the Romanov is pathetically stupid. The King of England could not make such a momentous decision on his own, it was rather he government to decide what to do and to force the sovereign to accept.

Nope. He could have given family members sanctuary. However, they were already in crisis mode because of their German ancestry. He simply thought it best for their own throne, not to.

Many of these photos were taken by Pierre Gilliard who spent 13 years with the Imperial Family as a tutor of French.

Pierre Gilliard was the tutor of Alexei. To save his life, Nicholas asked him to go back home to Switzerland where he became Professor of French language and literature at the University of Lausanne if I am not mistaken (this point must be clarified). He was always welcome by the Russian aristocracy in exile as he had always shown himself faithful to His Majesty and was probably one of the closest friends of the Tsar, all politics set aside. He wrote his souvenirs but I am not sure they were translated. He was the last of the old tradition of having Swiss French-speaking tutors at the Russian court, a tradition that started with the Geneva-born Lefort during the reign of Emperor Peter the Great.

1907й год: Наш Царь - Мукден, наш Царь - Цусима, Наш Царь - кровавое пятно, Зловонье пороха и дыма, В котором разуму - темно. Наш Царь - убожество слепое, Тюрьма и кнут, подсуд, расстрел, Царь-висельник, тем низкий вдвое, Что обещал, но дать не смел. Он трус, он чувствует с запинкой, Но будет, час расплаты ждёт. Кто начал царствовать - Ходынкой, Тот кончит - встав на эшафот.
