Thank you for making this video to teach us some much needed railroad history! Railroad history should be a subject taught in our schools as part of the history of America. This is an amazingly beautiful train. I pray that more and more of our historical trains will be salvaged and brought to life as this one has been. It has always been my dream to travel the country on an historical train. Too old and in poor health to see that dream come true, but people like you that bring us these videos are much appreciated!

Definitely on my bucket list! Haven't rode the Skunk since I was a about 7/8 years old, 1968/9. I miss the Skunk, the coast, the redwoods, the poppy fields, the huge blackberries...

I grew up in Fort Bragg, California, right next to this railroad. Really miss seeing that gorgeous steam engine rolling through town on the weekends!

I drove through Fort Bragg many years ago and have always wanted to return. It seems like a nice place to retire.

I hope to visit this place myself in the future, but likely when 45 returns from its rebuild since it was pulled from service in 2018.

I live in Fort Bragg and I’ve been trying to rebuild it but it keeps collapsing

Well, bad news. Looks like the Western RR has gone bankrupt. They were purchased by the Mendocino Railway, however the company is currently fighting the typical fatally bureaucratic overreach of local and state agencies. I hope they succeed in chasing off the state and local vultures and continue running the trains.
