With the upcoming NHL Entry Draft of high importance to sellers at the deadline, TSN simulates the 2023 draft lottery to determine where Connor Bedard will end up and he joined TSN's James Duthie to talk about it.

I get he's focused on what he's doing for the time being and shouldn't overwhelm himself but it's kind of exciting to think about. Also the opportunity to forge those friendships is always fun. They always have a good time.

The lottery only decides the 1st and 2nd pick so since the Canucks didn’t get called by 6th you could automatically say they won the lottery for either the 1st or 2nd pick

As a Sharks fan I really hope they win the draft. Unlike Chicago, we didn’t full on intentionally tank this season. Not saying I wouldn’t tank to get a player like Bedard, cause I totally would if I were GM, but I regress. If we don’t win the lottery the only other player we should be Drafting for is Michkov. He’s the only player in this Draft on Bedard’s level. The fact that we might get him when is pick is a blessing the Sharks would be fools not to capitalize on. The fact that he will be in Russia for 3 years is also works in our favor cause we really need to stockpile high end talent and him playing for us right away would only lessen those odds of picking top 3. My dream scenario is winning the draft and somehow managing to trade for another high pick and taking both. My god that’s ugly.

@@mrmunch9787 No we did not. We traded Burns in the off-season. We had just come off a bad season, trading him was a favor. GM Grier took his high paid vets aside and was real with them about the situation. Told them we want you here in SJ, but the truth is we don’t see ourselves being cup contenders. That being said Burns chose to leave. Everyone else chose to stay. Nobody was asked to leave. They did make trades and signings in the off-season to bolster our lineup with what limited cap we had. Grier was very firm with his statements heading into the season that the goal was to make the playoffs. Then this season happens. Of course we are going to trade Meier, only makes sense given the updated status quo. We waited till the deadline. Chicago dumped DeBrincat before the off-season even started, which made intentions very obvious. I mean if you have another view, I’m open to hearing it.

Because Arizona dropped a spot due to the Nucks moving up 4 spots in this fake draft lottery. Nucks are 6th and jumped up to 2nd for winning the 2nd overall. Hence, teams 3, 4 and 5 all dropped 1 spot.

We still did get the defacto No.1 in that draft in Henrik and the No.2 in the same draft in Daniel, but they were both picked 3rd and 2nd overall. Burke fleeced Atlanta GM by making them promised not to take one of the Sedins 1st overall and he didn't.
