even retired NHL bottom liners will skate circles around these guys or any beer league, Its crazy how skilled those guys are, like Ryan reeves for example. He's not a star NHL player he's an enforcer if he gets 20 points that's a big year for him.. He'd be like McDavid is to the NHL in a beer league.

I played AAA hockey when I was a teen and got to be a shooter for Kenesky's goalie school. Kenesky was a huge name then because of their goalie pads which were the #1 pads in hockey. There were NHLers at these schools and I met many stars. One day Alan Bester for whatever reason dressed up in full gear and let us take shots on him. I was a very good 14-year-old AAA player playing against the best goalies in their cities and coming in on a break-away against Alan was ridiculous. It literally changed from trying to score on him to see if you could get close enough to make a move without him firing out a laser poke-check that you felt was actually meant to break your ankles. It was insane. And forget about taking shots on him. I had the hardest slap-shot on my team and when I would really get into one where goalies my age would tell me to take it easy, Alan's body language of course was like an NHLer was flinging warm-up snap-shots lol. At this school, it was the only time one of the NHL guys put his gear on so they were usually instructing with skates, gloves, and a regular hockey stick. All I can tel you is, to a man they were the best snipers I had ever been on the ice with. The way those guys could shoot a puck with a regular stick was mindblowing. They could stand on the hash-marks and fire lasers into the top corners like you'd think only the best NHL snipers could pull off. But that's the level of the NHL. Any goalie that has ever been drafted by an NHL team is, without doubt, an actual freak of nature and the truth is, the ones who become the best of the best are not really that much better than the other guys skills-wise they simply have the mental game figured out. Dominick Hasek notwithstanding because in all honesty I'm not entirely convinced that man was actually human lol

@@SurfinCowboy5615 Tripple isn't that much of an accomplishment, especially bantams. Half the dudes you're playing haven't finished puberty yet, and just learned how to hit a year or two prior. I can imagine it's even easier in Canada, with how many more teams there are and how bad all the junior rejects we had to play with that came down as 18-19 year olds for their last chance to do something in hockey. I can't speak on any truly elite goalies, but ours always complained if you rang them in practice. I don't think this guy is making up a pretty reasonable "this one time" about an AHL lifer from the 80's. It's less than .08% of hockey players are playing in the NHL. Figuring veterans, so only a few new rookie slots are available each year....you literally have to be the top 1%, of the top 1%. It's not unreasonable to consider any athlete at that level as inhuman.
