Fantastic review as always, Shahriar. I'm amazed of how good Siglent has become over the years. I can actually affort decent equipment for my own lab at home. Also, I really appreciate the time and efforts you put into producing your content. It is very clear and concise. Personally, I have limited RF experience via my E.E. degree but still ended up with RF as part of my job. Your videos are a HUGE help as to what instruments are out there and what can be achieved with them in terms of applications. I use your videos as a primer of sorts so I know what to look further into. Thanks for taking us to school - keep up the good work! 😉

I always look forward to your videos, Shahriar. I have learned a lot over the years I've been watching. Repairs are my favorites, but I enjoy the reviews like this as well, since you always have experiments and technical breakdown descriptions of the instruments (I really enjoy the experiments).

Thanks for this....I found it quite useful & informative as I'm currently looking for a signal gen with similar specs (0-6GHz w\IQ capabilities etc) You always offer thoughts & ideas on ways to apply these devices' capabilities. I also appreciate the internal look to better understand quality of workmanship, types of components used & level of quality of these devices....so great overview!

These teardown videos are a great way to learn about the system architecture of spectrum analyzers and signal generators. I'v use these learnings when designing the tinySA (a 50$ spectrum analyzer and signal generator) It would be nice to see you do a teardown and review of the tinySA but it may not fit your audience and for sure the performance (and the price) is very different from what you are used to.

Another pretty comprehensive tour Shahriar, many thanks. Decent PN performance from what is a fairly low cost Z-Comm VCO. How large is the IQ memory in terms of number of sample words? I'm a bit confused by what I read in the datasheet. Often in radar system simulation it's nice to be able to upload and play back pre recorded I/Q data which needs a lot of sample memory to be useful.

Thanks! Would love to see more experiments and applications, unconventional sort of "tips and tricks" even, with these sorts of instruments. You mention some features that would let you stress test receivers etc...what's that look like on a bench?

Shahriar I would love to understand and be able to use the gear you present so greatly! May I ask you on what gear do I need to start experimenting and learning about HF? You may maybe ask me what frequency I am interested in, but even that do I not know, I would love to work within a range where you think a beginner should start to experiment. :-)

That external levelling straight in the generator is so nice, much better than having to do it yourself on a PC using matlab or something. Been there, done that.

Wonderful reviews, Shahriar! As far as I know, all Siglent AWGs suffer from synchronization drift. For example, SDG2122X has almost 6ns drift between rear panel sync output and front-panel outputs. SDG6000 series has the same problem, just a smaller drift. Does this instrument have the same issue?

Dear Shariar, Is it possible to share the part number of the main fractional N synthesizer from AD? I have been evaluating the ADF4372, which I think has the best phase noise of all the AD single chip synthesizers. However the ADF4372 has built in VCOs, which evidently Siglent have avoided. regards Cosmo Little

He did one on the Deepace KC901V which is a very nice 6.8GHz VNA for less than $2k, not to mention being handheld. It may be hard to get a hold of one, though.
