This must have been later that February 1982 as the guy in Postscript was recounting his experiences on board a ship in the Falklands war. This wasn't until April to June 1982 so must have been recorded later. Thank you for uploading though - I love any Westward/TSW nostalgia as it reminds me of growing up down here in the South West. It's an era of TV that will sadly never be replicated.

Thank you there for this too of course. At that time, TSW had not long replaced Westward of course so it is interesting to see. Although I live in Kent and would not have seen it anyway-but none the less well done too!

I can actually confirm this was the early morning of 4th February 1982 - I think the rest of ITV showed this film the previous evening of The Great Santini.

This clip could not have been from February 1982. The chap presenting 'Postscript' recounts his experience during the Falklands War which took place between April and June 1982. He actually indicates it was the year before, so it seems the clip is from (early?) 1983, though perhaps not too early in 1983 as the weather forecast indicates Spring rather than Winter. The clock reappearing after the UK National Anthem for an extended period along with the tone is certainly a new one for me - and how it then 'expands', and finally the 'Independent Broadcasting Authority' right at the end. So, all in all, it's a very illuminating clip!

This appears to be an Engineering Test. The blip that occurs every few seconds in the tone sounds like it's testing a break in one of two audio channels. Perhaps they were testing an early version of Nicam stereo. The warbling at the end just before the IBA caption appears sounds like some kind of data stream, which perhaps might have been related to such a test or even testing something else like some form of RDS or DMAC data.
