your running rich on the low end.. you can hear it in the idle...once you get that sorted out.. now... mill the flywheell a hot cdi box proper fmf full pipe and if you really wanna squeeze some more hp out yank out the base gasket and rtv it.. you will raise the compression quite a bit.. your ttr will now eat a stock crf150

I just replaced that puny little 20mm restrictive carb on my DRZ 125L with the Mikuni 26mm and I was shocked by the difference in power. I love it and would recommend that anyone with a 4-stroke 125 do this mod. Bike should be uncorked too of course. Enjoyed your video!

Just picked one of these up for my daughter, it’s in the garage next to my Beta! Love it and will be swapping the carb as this one has an Amazon chinese carb on it and the previous guy said it was because the stock mikuni was nothing but problematic

That metal screen is not really restricting much flow and it’s more/less in there to block debris from getting past the air box into the carburetor.. if your air filter is old and disintegrating, bits of the foam could potentially get sucked into the carburetor and cause your throttle to hang up which could be dangerous and could also get past the carb and into the motor. So It’s more of a safety thing. Not a lot of people take that into consideration and just say fuckit and chuck it. I personally would keep it in there because it also will keep rodents and BS from being able to get past the air box too. I’ve had a snowmobile throttle stick nearly wide open because it sucked an Acorn into one of the carburetors and hung the slide up but luckily I was able to realize it was happening and hit the kill switch and shut it down. After inspecting I noticed that there was a bunch of crap in the air box from critters while the sled was being stored for the off season. Anyways, good video. We just picked up two of the small tire versions of the ttr125 and I have been considering doing the carburetor modification to it and I appreciate you elaborating and showing the drilling of the cap. That was the one thing that I was unsure about when people said “you got to drill out the cap” i didn’t know what they were talking about so thank you. 🙏

I have a 2009 ttr125 which has a COMPLETELY different carb setup. The throttle slide isn't connected to the cable, and the throttle itself uses 2 cables. I can't find a single video online of anyone changing that carb setup.

What jetting did you use

Hey man, was looking for a temporary power upgrade that wouldn’t require drilling holes cause this bikes probably gonna be sold when I get a bit older and decide to finally put some money into a bigger bike, did the snorkel come off without cutting anything? (And also everything here was useful to me, I’m gonna open up the air box mildly by removing just the snorkel and the mesh behind the filter, also will do the exhaust mod)

Just got into riding a couple of months ago and bought my daughter a 2005ttr125le. It has an FMF exhaust already on it. Choke plunger stuck and broke so considering doing these mods. I'm seeing the Mikuni vm24 listed anywhere from $28-$191. How can I be sure I'm not getting a knockoff? What kind of jetting would I use for riding in Southern California?

literally just adjust the float in the stock carb

Your video may help much more if you can provide ALL detail as: - what carb (EXACTLY ...genuine MIKUNI, clone, source....etc) - main jet, - pilot jet, - needle clip position - float position (mm) - needle number & - needle jet, - level above sea you are at AND - last but not least - where to source the jets for the respective carb (as on clones often jets cannot be re-sourced for tuning...)

Waaaay too rich. Reason: you put a carb that was designed for a two stroke on a 4 stroke. Two stroke uses a lot more fuel at every rpm than a four stroke. You’re going to need to do a lot of jetting.

Why Knot just cut most of the top of the airbox out ? Should clean that dirty frame off while you got that shit tore off. & that stupid helmet hanger took mine off & grinded the welded nuts off
