Definitely. And for those who don't know there's some great content on YT from various presentations Dr John Hinds did. They are really entertaining, he was a really funny guy on top of everything else.

Met Jonny at the Manx last year, I was a fresher marshal at Sulby Bridge and Parliament Sq. All the regulars marshals look up to Jonny and the other TM's for obvious reasons. Really humble guy is Jonny but focused on the job. Best Podcast so far.

As a paramedic I can assure you that certain incidents stay with you forever and you'll think about it every time you pass that spot. To live on the IOM and return year after year to be TM takes guts because you're banking away a lot of memories. Take care of yourself.

I was watching from Kirk Michael this TT and a rider pulled in with the back wheel loose and Johnny and the other Marshalls were trying to knock the wheel spindle back with a brush and then a woman came across the field with a hammer and saved the day, and we all clapped Johnny and the other Marshalls. Brilliant day top man. 👍

I recall that Lee is a real student of the old school bikes and riders. Things that were contemporary for me as a young lad. He’s an unusual fella like that. Some of those old machines were complete sheds compared with what Lee rides today. But crikey, they were fast and little or no rider aids. My favourite season would be those Suzuki 500 two strokes, so-called “Unrideables”. I was lucky to be able to touch both actual GP bikes, as Stuart Robinson is so well known to Suzuki GB & they’d lent them to Robinsons Foundry in Canterbury (my local shop). I don’t know what modern race bikes look like close up. Sounds silly, but the most shocking thing was how tiny those bikes were.

I'm very glad to say I've never seen a fatal crash first hand, and I hope it remains that way. I have, however, been the first on scene to a toddlers death and the mental impact can be absolutely shattering. My youngest Brother is a traffic police sergeant, and I know he's had some big battles with mental health when he's attended a particularly nasty fatality. One which springs to mind was a 12 year old boy who who been climbing warehouses with his mates, and fell a considerable distance when he fell through the thin aluminium sheeting which consitituted the roof. That poor boy died in my Brothers arms and it tormented him terribly for months afterwards. Thankfully, an Uncle of ours is a retired fire service chief who has attended countless horrific deaths, and they talked privately and it seems to have helped them both. My point is, we are all only human, and have real human reactions to horrific scenes and tragedies. It takes a certain sort of strength to work in a job where dealing with tragedies is a frequent occurrence, and it's actually really cool to see the TT community continue to be very open and honest about the realities of our sport, and the stories of the men and women who go to great lengths and who experience horrific tragedies in order to better serve and save our brothers and sisters. God bless them all.
