I am a huge fan of GNR and of Axl of course! How come I didn' t fimd this video before. You showed even inside the house. And also the highschool. I imagened the young Axl at every single part of Lafayette you drove throught and also running around the house...walking to school and getting in trouble. Amazing video. Thank you so much for this!

Looks like a palace, compared to the Aussie bush home my crazy father built with his bare hands, by moonlight, after work, as tgere was no electricity out in the remote bush. It was never fully constrcted, full of toxic asbestos and the gale wind would toar through it, shaking and rattling the unstable structure, as unstable as our mental health, as all these crazy people would gather there, eating, drinking, dancing, sing all weekend. Nobodyvunderstood any nody else's language, including Aussies who didn't know how to eat pizza etc and would rock up with a freshly slaughtered lamb for the barbie, as labs of beer to bang on all night, get very inebriated. My little brother and I were the only kids present, put to sleep under dad's old army coat. It was hard and cold in minus 4 night temperatures, no heating . It was ompossible to sleep with all this racket and we wondered if these bastards were ever going to just die,as we were so tired and hundred. Then they'd come and say "What a cute lityle prince and princess. Definitely descended from great Euroean aristocracy. But we didn't feel too 'aristocratic', and wondered what the hell aristocratic was. We thought they were all insane. Around 3am you'd see this weird moon rise through the forest. It meant tome to pull out the cards. Tarot cards. They played normal European cards a while yhen started on Tarot readings, plam readings, magic and such. ''Ah your great, great grandmother foretol , reading the cards, that you would undertake a strange journey to a strange lsnd snd it came true...' I recall someone saying, as she asked me to hold my plam ag as inst thr open fire we had, our only source of warmth. I swore I saw my sikeletal bones agains the flames. 'The key that coild u n lock all doirs but they all remain locked' the reader said. They all went quiet. I wondered what the hell that meant. It made no sense to me as a child. But it does now that I'm older. Still, despite all this, I don"t regret being born. Life does duck. But, in a way, it's kind of beautiful. And I woild never change my rottrn, hard, deprived life for any other. It expanded my mund and creativit, stretch my imagination, tested my survival ability to the limit. But it took its toll in other ways. Like I can understand others but they can't understand me. Like looking through a one way morror. Upu can see them, but th ey can't see you. And they then question your sanity, want to put you away. In jail, in a mentsl institution. They just c as n't hanfle anybody who is not a conforming clone of them. But, not all of us had the same upbringing or inherited the same genes. And not all people are 'born equal'. Some are bo t n smarter, more beautiful, creative. Others are born in nice loving homes with everything they need or want, others are norn into extreme deprivation, abuse, neglect. Equslity is a nice ideal. But, the reality of life is very different, as we painfully discover as we grow up and realise that no matter how good/successful we are, we are never good enough. Simply because we hsppened to be born into the wrong family background. Personally, I'd like to see the family unit comp l etely abolished. Replaced with the universal or state type family. Choose your o we n par e nts, siblings etc, not have them in f licted on you by 'society'. Only then can we be all truly equal.
