I agree with P, it’s a bad shot for anybody, but like he said. If you make that shot it means that you are a hell of a player. Regardless of who is taking the shot, no coach wants a player to take that shot, but the situation called for a tough shot, so a tough shot was taken. Maybe it shouldn’t be labeled as “bad”, rather it should be labeled as “tough”

the hypocritical point of view is saying that the dame shot or harden's shots are all good quality shots, but also saying they're tough shot makers. kobe, dame, curry, harden all have terrible shot selection but they're great at making tough shots. they shoot bad quality shots, but they make them because they're amazing offensive players; if they shot only good quality shots, they'd shoot 60+% from the field (e.g. if you relegated them to only playing off ball on spot-ups, catch and shoot, cuts to the rim rather than letting them dribble and take contested shots)

When you’re in High School and your star player is on fire shooting over double teams and making tough shots do you then give the ball to the wide open guy in the corner? It might be the right “basketball play” but personally i would rather have the star taking the shots because he can make them regardless of the shot selection. If you make em nobody’s complaining.

Only like 2 people shooting that is a good shot cause they make it consistently. Everyone else it’s a bad shot. If a center (like Steven Adams, Rudy Gobert, etc.) is spotting up for corner threes that’s a bad shot. It all depends on who is taking the shot and the circumstance for me to call it a bad shot
