This is actually a true story. 1972 Laos military region 2 Xieng Khoung Province, village of Pha Khao. The husband that murdered his wife with the wooden stool is a Yang and the wife is a Her. The story teller just changed the name of the character to not get sued. The relatives of both the Yang husband and the murdered wife are here in the U.S.
