I just purchased a 2024 Tuareg and road it 500 miles the past couple of days. I am in Atlanta and road it to N. GA and the temp was 88F. I did not feel the heat everyone is talking about. Maybe when it gets in the mid 90's I will feel it but I don't like to ride in the dead of summer anyway. For now I am going to stick with the stock setup, bike has plenty of pep for me. Enjoy your content, hope to ride the Oregon and Washington BDR in the next couple of years.

I've ridden at temps up to 105f and the most of the heat is from the radiator. To me, the heat is a non issue. Yes, it is hot, so I just widen my knee's to get more air flow

Not sure if this has been brought up to you already, but I've read on the forums that a well ventilated skid plate does a lot for getting rid of heat. More so the HDPE material like the AXP. I'm pretty sure there was a post about it either on advrider or the Aprilia forum

At660, Portland/Eugene. It was days this summer when I was riding in shorts, stock bashplate, stock exhaust, from Portland to Canadian border, in Seattle deadstill traffic and I was not cooked, except airgrill from the air itself. Maybe OEM bashplate provides different air stream?

Maybe try thermal insulation on exhaust headers? Like on racing cars ?

ive heard the arrow head exhaust system reduces the heat a lot as it replaces the catalytic converter with a re generator

The best way to go for heat is Ceramic coat. I did my exaust on my atv….because melting my seat. Nice product and good look and way cheaper than complete system.

You need to wear proper motorcycle textile pants. These protect not only from the cold but also effectively from the heat.

These are mesh Mosko Moto pants, I love them!

it seems eliminating the catalytic doesnt solve the heat. Well it aint problem in where i live between 15-25 celcius, what i wanna ask the throttle response has changed after exhaust modification? the only problem i have is the ride by wire on tuareg is too snatchy in certain rpm's.
@PNW.Voyager10 ай бұрын
Throttle response is the same, an update to the original setup also solved the weird throttle braap around 4k rpm

I live close to you and have ridden 10K miles on my Tuareg. Changed exhaust after 600 miles to reduce weight and get a little more midrange power so I can't say if it was hot when stock. I do not think it's any hotter than other bikes with fairings that block airflow that I've ridden- Is your BWM cooler when stuck in our crappy traffic?
@PNW.Voyager10 ай бұрын
That’s awesome! Compared to the GS and t7, there’s a lot of heat.

Jacob,any major mentanance as valve adjustment?....I heard this bike requires valve adjustment at 12k miles...I am on the fence getting this or norden 901...tenere is top heavy...I had xt660z and I was fighting with that bike....
@PNW.Voyager8 ай бұрын
That's correct, the valves are supposed to be checked every 12,000 miles. My friend has the 901 and it's a dump truck compared to the Aprilia. If you're more on road touring the 901 is a ok option, but it's not great off road. The front of the 901 feels extremely heavy in sand and loose terrain.
@fun2rideadventure8 ай бұрын
Thank you for the quick response ... i am 50/50 on/off road ... yeah, strange because 901 should be same as 890 adv despite the soft suspension .... should be fixed with 901 expedition ... but thats not good if the front feels heavy on the dirt.... @@PNW.Voyager

@SaarGrin4 ай бұрын
so what parts did you need for this upgrade? 40% reduction in heat sounds nice
@PNW.Voyager4 ай бұрын
It was very simple. You just need to remap the ecu if you delete the cat.
@SaarGrin4 ай бұрын
@@PNW.Voyager can you recommend a guid on how to do that?

Did you do anything to the SAS system? By blocking it of would probably help more on the heat I think🤔
@PNW.Voyager10 ай бұрын
I haven’t checked that out yet, good idea
@ChrisSauer-oe5ve4 ай бұрын
What is SAS system?
@wilhelmvage51574 ай бұрын
@ChrisSauer-oe5ve secondary air system. The secondary air injection system (SAS) routes fresh air from the airbox to the exhaust system in order to aid the combustion of unburned fuel in the exhaust. This system is designed to improve emissions on stock exhaust systems, but will cause exhaust popping and backfiring when you fit aftermarket exhausts. Taken from google

Would you really get tenere instead of touareg?
@PNW.Voyager10 ай бұрын
The Tenere is a great option, but I prefer the Tuaregs performance.
@gbner999110 ай бұрын
Maybe the solution is just to get a T7 at that point. I have a T7 myself and I can't ride it in shorts really for longer than around the house. With motorcycle boots and pants it's not an issue at all. I also wear really thin summer thermals under my riding pants to help with chafing and comfort and it helps even more. Maybe you are focusing too hard on it? People have ridde bikes that probably run much hutter than it since forever. (KTM 990, 1090, Ducatis etc.)

I live in the SE and ride my T660 year around. The heat only bothers me when it gets over 90F. I did ride it once on a 104F day and it bothered me, but I think any bike would have. I actually like it on colder fall/winter rides. I'm thinking the vents around the CAT on the bash plate make a big difference. I'm shopping for a bash plate that has a lot of vents around the CAT. I think another YT guy (Aprilia Sucks) fried his bike swapping out the exhaust and headers while still in break in mode (6000rpm max for 600 miles) without re-mapping it. Definitely do not do that!

I’ve remapped the ECU, a must when removing the cat! 104 degrees, I would be looking for a lake to jump in.
