I play tuba in a middle school band, the horn I use at home is a JCB-382 with a blessing 18 mouthpiece (basically brand new), the horn I use at school is a rather beat up JCB-378 with a funnel shaped mouthpiece, both made by jupiter, and I was curious on how a professional would view these combinations.

The horn doesn’t matter as much as the mouthpiece, try a perantucci pt-50

Does the valve system change the sound quality? Like, not talking intonation rather about sound timbre? For example, the F to the Bb tuba to the sousaphone. Same question directed for the euphoniums and trumpets/fluegelhorns. Very nice detailed video

The large bell changes the playing characteristics of the sousaphone from the tuba. The key a tuba is in makes it sound differently, too. BBb tubas are big and heavy-sounding, CC tubas slightly less so, Eb tubas sound notably lighter, and F tubas sound almost like a euphonium in timbre. Size of the tuba can make a 6/4 F tuba sound similar to a 4/4 CC. Mouthpiece choices change the sound, too. Rotary vs piston valves or bell materials are probably the least perceptible difference, though they change the timbre, too.
