I have had my feeding In my belly for four years now . I can’t eat or drink even a drop of water without chocking . Hay life goes on . I drive a school bus , ride my electric bike , ect .I have found it helps to look at the bright side . I don’t have to shop for food , no dishes to wash , I don’t have to plan my meals .I can still taste anything .I like to suck on torsos roll pops even though I have to rinse my mouth out often while doing it .I do gag a little , I also like salty licorice , I put it in my mouth taste it , then rinse my mouth out . You just have to experiment some . Life is good , learn to make the best of it . I sure do miss a juicy hamburger though . Lol

Is it normal to feel pain in your stomach the first times feeding through the tube after surgery? My grandmother just got her tube in she’s 85 and is in a lot of pain at night when she gets feed through the tube so she’s giving up on herself I’m trying to get information to help her and see if there’s hope

At the end he mentions "things you can not do with a feeding". I don't think there is anything I can't do with my feeding tube besides eat orally.

Thank you for doing this video! I’m 50 with cancer and may get a feeding tube soon. Do you or can you still get heartburn or is that the main point of the thing?

My BF just got a feeding tube recently. He was diagnosed with throat cancer, and he can barely swallow food. In his case, the feeding tube provides most of his nourishment. He can still swallow water, and some medicines, also some very soft foods. Everything else goes in the tube. Yes, when you have a tube installed, you can still take in some things by mouth, in most cases. But it’s not easy eating enough to sustain you. Other things to consider are maintaining the tube, both inside and out. On the outside, it must be kept clean. You have to think about how you wash it, changing the bandages, cleaning the feeding equipment and your hands before each feeding, making sure your tube does not become blocked, backflow, and making sure your tube does not catch on anything. If you are a previously active person, you have to step back a bit, and think about what you’re doing before you do it, like lifting, or any physical activity. Eating is such a communal act, so much revolves around having a meal, or snacks, it can feel like you’re missing out, or being left out because you can’t participate, and missing your favorite foods can take a toll on you mentally. So far, there’s been no heartburn, however, gas from the stomach can come up the tube, and there’s been a couple of times when pressure has tried to push the syringe out, even without the plunger in. In that case, flushing the tube can help. In most cases, the gravity feed will work with no problem. Only flush if there is a blockage. It is frustrating at times, but being able to have a way to eat is worth it.

@lindawolffkashmir2768 My husband was diagnosed with throat cancer. We are 2 weeks into treatment, and it looks like he is going to need a feeding tube. I feel so bad for him. He is so depressed. How is your boyfriend doing, now that he is on the other side of treatment?

My uncle just got an “old fashioned “ feeding tube and he hasn’t been able to use it even the doctors and nutrionist said they have to look it up on how to use it. Does anyone have one that goes straight into the intestines? He is losing 2 lbs a day… Please I’m throwing this out as a CRY for help please.🙏Thank You. ♥️

I hope you have found a solution to your "problem" since it has been a week already! I would suggest you to look up "PEG procedure" for something a bit more permanent. My mother is in the later stage of MND and this is the stage where we need to do a reality check on using feeding tube over feeding usually. She doesnt want to use it though but her frequent choking and gasping while trying to swallow is giving her quite a challenge!

Mom is 97 with severe dementia in a nursing home. She’s forgotten how to eat and even with medication she won’t even take her supplements. The feeding tube has been discussed but family is against it. Being that I make the final decision I really want to try it because I would never want mom to whither away. But then again what life would she have. Am I prolonging an agony?

How did this work out for you? My grandmother is in the hospital and is 98 and has mci and is silently aspirating. She wants to eat and wants to go home and live. But they won't let her eat in the hospital. Did the feeding tube work out?

@@ErikaSchoene We never got to that point. We were resigned to mom‘s wishes of not putting that on her. But God was good. She went through intense OT and they slowly got her to eat again, starting from nutrition supplements to chopped food. She is now eating to the point where she gained weight. She’ll be 99 in April. I don’t know how they did it but I’m very grateful. In fact here is Mom now happy as a clam with her baby. kzfaq.infoLwrOM69YYOk?feature=share

@@a.h.5966 The patient and the family. But God does not promise us things will be easy, The Bible tells us in this world we we will have troubles. If we face them walking with God through Jesus Christ, we can make decisions along the way, through hill top and valley seasons of life. In this person's situation, with loved ones and life or death, qualityof life decisions, it's more like stormy and calm seasons. We all have our own personal storms, we can face them with grace and peace if we walk with a sovereign savior as we go.
