So simple and explained without all the hub bub ... thank you! ... I could not get it to leak around the tubeless valve but I going off that impression any way ... loosened my valve and made it leak and let the wheel spin up and reseal it then tightened it back down... will see if after my 80 miles roundtrip commute if that puts this annoying leak to rest not sure how much sealant the shop put in each of my tires but before I just go adding more I'll try this ... as seriously having to add air to my tires each week is frustrating and I already air'd the tires up to 115 psi to ensure they were seated properly before to no luck ... always dislike when I don't get that reassuring pop of the bead seating...

I'm brand new to tubeless and just got a new wheel on warranty from the manufacturer. It was leaking at the base of the stem and I was just about to grab the pliers when I thought, I better check on this. Thanks so much. It was either add lubricant to the valve to make it seal, or sealant. I chose sealant and so glad I did. Thanks a whole bunch!

Helped a quick fix for me! Time to get back on the trail

So far Tubeless tires are a pain in my butt. They keep losing air, sometimes slow and sometimes fast and never leaking out sealant...wtf.

I had this exact problem with a constantly leaking valve stem and this little trick fixed it!

I've been changing rim tape and adding more sealant and throwing tools for days now and this fixed the issue in a matter of seconds. Hats off to you, sir! One other thing I did to help (maybe not even necessary) was to hold the rim with the valve at the bottom to let all the sealant settle there, then quickly flip it 180 degrees so the sealant can accumulate around the valve bed, then jiggle quickly.

Great tip! First, my LBS "forgot" to put sealant in my tires... Afterwards I still had some slow leaking so turned my valve nuts tight as crazy 🤣 - it did help on one wheel... now if I get this right its third time lucky (I hope).

I have checked my wheels with tires installed. I do not see any leaks with water testing. However, i still need to pump them almost every two weeks.

Thank you! I did tubeless conversion for first time and my front wheel was perfect with no leaks first attempt the back wheel did 3x put new tape and its still leaking around the valve. Will use this trick tommorow. Another question. I still have to put sealant in my tyres. I see videos of people shaking the wheel laying it on the side etc. Does it also work to just go for a ride directly after putting the sealant in?

Hi, is it recommended to do this on a newly setup tubeless?, most instructions i read says to set it up without sealant, does it mean that i just have to check for major leaks? And if it is just leaking on the valve stem then the sealant will do the rest of the job?, i've retaped countless time, even replaced my rim because of a tiny crack, but air still escapes from the valve stem beneath the nut

When you say "using the actual sealant in your tyre," does this mean I don't need to buy sealant and add it myself? Just rotate the wheel around the existing sealant in the tyre will run around and cover? I don't understand, wouldn't it be set already?

Another trick to eliminate this problem is to apply a little rubber cement around the rubber part of the stem before poking it through the rim. This seals against the stem and tape so it won't leak.

I noticed my lock-nut is cutting into my rim. Would you recommend an O-ring?

I have no time to play with tubeless. 🤔But i was thinking, why not put some contact glue on that valve base when instoling the system. Just a little pit on the area that touch the rim edge and base of the valve. Tubeless is for those who have one bike and ride it every day. Mine sits too many days that it would be empty every time i take it out on a ride. Don’t mind the extra 100g from tubes.
