I have to say the scene in the loo when Robin does her reveal was a smidge emotional. It was very well built. We were fed some seeds of a 'will they/won't they' scenario then when Steve goes all in we find out there was actually a reverse love-triangle of sorts - Robin had a crush on a girl who had a crush on Steve who had his head up his....... Brilliantly scripted and superbly acted, and so chuffed they kept the two as friends and cohorts.

Steve was always a good guy, even in the first season. Sure he was goofy and cocky, but that was fun. He never teased Jonathan for having a missing brother the way his other rude friends did. He did break Jonathan’s camera, but honestly, Jonathan kind of deserved that. He also felt bad about Barb going missing, not as much as Nancy, but he did recognize that something awful happened and making fun of it is not cool.

I was in a way hoping for more of a negative reaction to it. It's the 80s and gay/lesbian people weren't that easilly accepted back then. Of course that would mean they might not be friends anymore. But I wanted her coming out to have negative reactions to some of them to put light on that. Then again I'm a straight guy and don't really feel the need of representation of that. Still a thought

Torrix_ nah I'm happy it was done this way. It's refreshing to see LGBTQ characters being accepted and loved for who they are. I'm tired of all these movies/TV shows that have the gay character not being accepted by their friends or family or even being sent to conversion therapy type of shit. I'm happy that they showed that he accepted her, especially since it takes place at such a dark time. Plus, having all these shows abd movies depict coming out in such a negative way, makes coming out a lot more scary for people who are still in the closet. It took me years to be able to gather the courage to come out because all I've seen in movies and TV shows is gay people not being accepted. I hope that more TV shows/movies will will depict it in a positive way like they did in Stranger things, hopefully it'll help young LGBTQ people with their journey of coming out of the closet.

Are we just gonna ignore how in the eighties Steve doesn’t hate or make fun of Robin for being gay we love an accepting mother
@blackjetski5554 жыл бұрын
With the eighties, actual intolerance towards homosexuals' living their lives was much less present than in the fifties; it was more about the constant jokes that everyone laughed along to regardless.

Mr Fruit ROBLOX Same thing. Gay is an umbrella term like homosexual is whereas lesbian is for women (with the exception of some nonbinary people who are attracted exclusively to women using it)

@@lookatthiscatbro1462 I could have worded it better, but I didn't mean it was jokes and laughs was for people coming out, and certainly didn't mean in all cases. I was talking more about how the views towards gay people that the mass majority of the public held (at least in US and UK) had changed significantly between the 1950s and 1980s.
