"Stumbled" on to this video while searching for ways to mange mental health issues whilst living in a Top Floor Flat in Plymouth... a great view but oh the Seagulls!!

My neighbour keeps parking in my parking space without my permission. A therapist friend told me that it’s my choice if it bothers me. Like the past rant yesterday pointed out, some people want to dismiss peoples suffering. The neighbour thing is a mild annoyance. But it’s the implication that if I’m bothered by something someone does, it’s my fault. This neighbour also plays their tv loud at 4am. But if I’m annoyed at this, it’s my fault because I’m reacting to my map not reality. I should have better beliefs that I can magically download into my reprogrammed mind or something.

Who would have thought that the way people mentally represent situations to themselves, might actually be accurate. Incredible stuff , I’m off to design a 7 day program that explores this idea in more detail.

Maybe it should be replaced with "The Certification is not a qualification"? Asking for a friend...

Yes, that whole "map is not the territory" thing has been much misapplied. It's actually a profound and important idea. It doesn't mean that you can simply choose your experience.

This seems to me like basic stuff. everybody maps according to their experiences and beliefs and you shouldn't dismiss other people's maps because you are most likely missing something in yours.

Have you read science and sanity Andrew? I don't recognize the NLP you describe. I'm must have been lucky regarding those I have been trained by. Dr Chris Hall and Peter Freeth. I haven't met many people who have read the whole of the book you mention. It's not an easy book.
