It makes me so happy that this is of benefit and you are learning some different tricks. I'm always figuring out new ways of working the local adjustments and how to blend techniques together. Next week should be rather interesting as I'm getting into the fancy new masks which can also be linked with the old school ones for some very precise adjustments. @@gregkiserphotography There is a thing that,s a bit cumbersome for me, but its not related to masks or editing and I don,t want to break the flow in your series.🙂 It is about exporting the finished files as a reduced size jpeg. I always lose quiet a bit of detail and sharpness when I export/convert through Lr. Opening the finished file in Ps for exporting gives more options? and seems to do a much better job. Would like to have some more clarity about the hows and why,s around that topic, so any info in maybe a future video I would greatly appreciate. 😇

@@bamzager What a great topic! You are right, or at least our experience is roughly the same with exporting low res jpeg files. There are some settings in Lightroom that I will use for reducing the pixel size of the file that work pretty well, but if I am limiting the storage size all bets are off and I see the same results you do. I don't think that Lightroom is as capable of compressing as Photoshop is. If I do a sizing in Lightroom, I will select 2000 px on the long side, 300dpi, and then apply screen sharpening as a check box. This gets a fine quality file that is web friendly. However, I try to keep my files below 200kb for loading speed and to keep my website performing decently. For that, I have to go into PS with the full size TIFF file. I will resize to 1300px on the long side, and then use export>save for web (legacy) and let PS add compression until I arrive at my desired file size. It is much better, but any time you compress a photo, you will loose quality. You are going from a 16 bit tiff file in a large color space to an 8 bit jpeg in sRGB with around 30-50% of the quality retained. I will do a video on this at some point soon, but I want to finish doing the mask intro first. Should make for a good break here in a bit. Thanks for the idea!
