So excited for you. For my 75th birthday, I gave myself a membership to a CrossFit gym. I had a Dexa Scan the week before I joined. Some osteoporosis and some osteopenia showed up. One year later when my doctor got the results from my new scan he called to see if I had somehow gotten medication somewhere. Of course not. The scan showed NO osteoporosis and very little osteopenia. He almost was going to have another scan because he couldn't believe there could be that much improvement in one year. That was the best birthday present I ever got. Keep it up, you'll be amazed at how much better you'll feel, how much easier you'll move, and the energy you will have. (Yes, there will also be some sore muscles from time to time, but it's so worth it.)

@@dollyhamilton6702 For sure it is the weight bearing exercise. First day I was given 5# weights to "thrust" from my shoulders to straight up over my head 10 times. At about six I was done! Today I had 20 # weights in each hand, at thrust 9 I wanted to quit but made it to 10. Total of 40 pounds. There are others in the class, one gal weighing 115# and she can thrust 135# barbell over her head. (She's 25. lol) Builds muscle and bone. I love CrossFit so much more than a gym where you just use a machine. The coach scales EVERY movement to your ability. You work side by side with others but doing it with lighter weights, or in a less challenging way. Best investment I ever made. And every day is different so you never get bored.

I needed to hear this today. I too have been spinning my wheels since November. I’ve been doing 20:4 IF for the last two weeks and wanted the weight to just fly off! But it’s not yet. I realize I should be proud when even the idea of IF made me nervous before. So I’ve resolved to just stay the course and trust the process. Thank you for your encouragement 🙏

Anita you have mentioned several times you have butter before bed and sleep well. I've been having horrible restless legs and overall anxiety at night that only started with carnivore. I started eating axTbs of butter before bed or when I feel bad and it magically stops it and I'm sleeping better. Thanks for this tiny mention that I took seriously and it's helped tremendously. See, every word counts! THANKS A MILLION.

I love sardines. My grandmother used to make me sardine sandwiches as a kid. My favorite brand is King Oscar, packed in oil, skin/bone. I suffer from Type 2 Diabetes with very high sugars. I just found your channel. I hope to improve my health.

I joined a gym early January to work on strengthening my core and doing resistance training. Getting up from the floor unassisted is one of my goals, too. I started carnivore on January 1st from keto and lost a total of 17.3’pounds in less than two months. Today is February 23!

Thank you so much for this video. I find I don’t lose weight much over the winter. I’ve been doing low carb / Keto for 4 years. I am really happy to be able to maintain the loss over the winter by staying low carb. That is a big win for me. No yo-yoing! I find I lose best in the summer months… I don’t know if anyone else finds this.. I’m like you on a long journey and have more to lose.

dGreat Video- Congrats on Size small! I am so glad you mentioned the composition to your audience. It has really helped me to have my DEXA scan numbers to refer to as the scale actually went up for me in the beginning, but it was muscle and bone density. Then later I could see the fat loss and continued muscle after having muscle atrophy,and years of pt. You mentioned you had one meal with two cans of sardines in one meal-this is perfect protein for am for muscle preservation and building. Sardines,salmon,codliver, mackerel and tuna are all autophagy promoting foods for an added bonus. I worked for years as a physical therapy aide in a rehab center and then my own injury with atrophy. Having 30 to 50 grams of protein in the a.m. has proven to build and maintain skeletal muscle the best of any other time of day- there are many studies on this across many demographics including elderly with extreme sarcopenia(muscle loss,weakness and loss of daily functions ability). I know you are doing the higher fat ratio and that's great, just figure your protein separately than your other macros now that you are doing resistance training, you will get better results and recover faster. 1.2 to 1.8 per pound is recommended for over 55. 30 g to 55 grams per meal. Your two cans of sardines with olive oil would be around 44 grams of protein. You haven't been high protein so I would just start with upping your protein for your breakfast and see how it goes with a goal of eventually 30 for your other two meals gradually over a few months. You keep your eating windows pretty stable so the autophagy aspect of the sardines will be continued with breaking your fast with them and you will be using your own protein from those old cells. Again congratulations and thank you for sharing. I am impressed by the quality of your videos and enjoy your talks as well as cooking.

Thank you for all this great information! After I did my 90 days of high fat I decided to start increasing my protein after seeing Judy Cho's excellent video about the amount of protein to have. I have been doing approx 75% fat (besides the sardine challenge).

@@KetogenicWoman that's awesome. I was unable to move to stop infection so even though was told if I ate enough wouldn't lose as much, I lost a lot. Gentle movement helps preserve but resistance training using body or weights along with functional moves is best for long term health. I have seen 90 year olds go from wheelchair to walking with regular functional exercise You can tweak the fat for your appetite just don't skimp on your protein! I appreciate you putting yourself out there and using your voice to help people it is really inspiring for those of us on the slow road to keep going. I am on the other side of the coin this time and animal based low carb has really changed my life in so many positive ways.

Hi Anita, I am so in awe with you and Amanda (CarnivorousMe) and your journeys. It inspired me to keep on going on and to not quit. I started with a challenge, mostly for myself, Carivore75Hard and I will also incorporate the sardine-challenge with it. I exercise every day and even after a year still find some muscles to exercise. Must say, I enjoy it so much. Our bodies are made to move. With regards to the scale? I needed that confirmation today. Perhaps it is because I I do a lot of exercise, I am not seeing a significant change on the scale and I only recently started taking measurements. I will after the 75 days take measurements and photos again, to see what the journey did for me.

Bravo to you girlfriend for being in a size small and what a cute top that is. I love it on you. I’ve got to break down and buy some sardines. It’s Lent as of today Ash Wednesday and you know what I need to buy some fish. Can’t be doing all this meat on Friday. Gotta hit the shrimp and the seafood on Fridays for 40 days at least! So happy to see that you’re at the gym and you’re 65. You don’t look like it. I’m 61. I have knee issues as well. I’ve had a hip replacement. I’ve been trying to do Carnivore for about 2 1/2 years now but my downfall is coffee and creamer and anything sweet. So I’m hoping giving up these things for 40 days for Lent, the coffee and the sweets will be a success for me. I also have osteopenia. So I’m right there with you. Fantastic news - I don't think I wore a small even when I was born!!!!! 🤣I do believe we have to "trust the process," but it is difficult when the scale doesn't do what you want it to do. I completely trust you though so I am thinking of a sardine challenge. Whoosh ... I have to work up to that mentally but if Anita can do it, I can do it! I think can, I think I can .... 🙄

I just started my sardine fast. The ones in tomato sauce are amazing. They have 2 grams of carbs per serving... but I won’t eat ten cans!! Lol! Thanks for all your wonderful information!!! I’m ready to rock!! 😊

You look great keep up the good work 👏 I'm doing Dr. Boz 21 day sardine challenge I started 04/11/2023 so far I've lost 20 Lbs in 6 days I know it's water weight but I'm still excited I'm 60 year old I have type 2 diabetes, fibromyalgia, high blood pressure, and degenerative joint disease I'm 5' 7" my starting weight was 221Lbs I'm down 20 Lbs I'm 201 Lbs now my gold is 140 Lbs I have a ways to go I might give down but I will never give up I'm going to keep pushing forward and listening to you I know you will push forward as well I've really enjoyed your video thank you so much for the information you deserve 5 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 and more

great contents, as always, anita. thanks. i love data so i'll be collecting coins to get that kind of scale. as an aside, the sodium in the sardines you linked to is surprisingly high. i checked the wild planet brand in my pantry and they're only 70mg of sodium. just a heads up for those who might have health related sodium issues like myself.

Pan frying the sardines may help me to try a sardine fast. Normal fasts don’t suit me as they tempt me to overeat. I have food issues which have not disappeared.

Thank you so much for this!!! I now love sardines & would choose them over a ribeye steak ANY DAY! I don’t like the texture of steak so these sardines are wonderful! I wonder if a daily meal of sardines would be a good idea after the fast?

@@KetogenicWoman After the 3 day fast is done, I’m going to do a meal of sardines a day for a month. It took 2 days to stop the night time sweet cravings. I’m still not sleeping well. I’m hoping it will all work out soon. Thanks again!

Muscle & bone are much heavier than fat, so you might even gain weight exercising as you lose a lot more fat. Health is so much more important than what the scale says.

I have had both my hips replaced and I am wanting to baby my knees cause I don’t wanna go through that but I sometimes have pain in the top of my knee Will the sardines help with your knees? Body comp scales basically measure body water (which carries the tiny electrical charge) and all those numbers are calculated according to the algorithm. Fine to tack one week to the next but please dont take the numbers as gospel

Yaaay on that Small shirt!!👍👍 Did the sardine challenge last week, ate 2 pieces of valentines candy so I added 2 more days to the challenge!! I NEVER weigh but I know from Dr visit I weigh 160 (before challenge) still not gonna weigh! My clothes are loose and that’s what I care about!! So what I have been doing since last Saturday is, I eat a large carnivore meal at 12:00 and then at 5:00 I eat a can of sardines….will do this for a while because…why not?🤷🏻‍♀️😂😂😂

@@catea2551 Hi Cate. I, too am on a very tight budget governed by Social Security and there isn't a spare dime for extras in life. I watch a lot of KZfaq also and enjoy it partly because it is free of extra cost. But it's getting more and mirecthat everyone needs to charge for this platform. Being carnivore has greatly cut my food costs and I never have to clean out my refrigerator from rotting veggies, sour milk, etc. I will watch what is available, just like you.❤❤😉

I wish I liked more food like you. I’m not a fan of fish. I know Stephanie Keto Person says we’d be happy to eat the stuff we don’t like if we were starving. Unfortunately my taste buds are like petulant children who stubbornly turn their head away with their mouths firmly shut lol. I have tried things I didn’t think I’d like and made small strides, but food is such a major part of life it isn’t fun to have to force yourself to tolerate things that aren’t appealing. Hopefully over time I’ll continue to make strides as I incorporate some of your recipes.

I get it, I have some foods I don't like either! The good thing is that you don't have to do a sardine challenge! I happen to like sardines and so this really appealed to me! Just pick the foods that you DO like that also fit into your plans and goals and eat those!
