At first when I saw the 6x6 pulling the toy I felt underwhelmed but then I realized and WWWOOOWWWW how do riffs take that, mine start cracking easily even if I use two gears per differential! I was rooting for the 42099 6x6 and that was a close match at the end! The model looks sick and how well does it crawl/off road?

Hey Chris I guess Lego did a good job with the design! I too can’t believe they didn’t break or slip, I guess the rear 4 wheels took the strain usually 2 wheels do. And thanks I love the way the conversion looks too! I’m going to do a little video on it this week! It’s great at climbing slopes I know that! I’ve not took it outside yet! Only issue is with that gearing.... it’s slow!!! Lol

@evernewb20732 жыл бұрын
it didn't look like it was actually the motors: the connection between the vehicles was a bit off-center and it was causing the tracked one to list to the side and loose traction, whenever it got pulled back it would right it to straight-on and it would start pulling forwards again, aaaand promptly fall too far off-straight and start getting pulled back, eventually it just didn't catch that traction reset. that little bit of slush room in the geometry you get from the flexible bits in a structure make a pretty massive difference, especially when reliability is paramount

So, do you think PU XL motors actually worth using instead of L motors, or it's just about "how you use them"? I'm asking about it because I'm curious if this 42099 can be remade with using L motors instead and would it perform better/worse/same? It's good to see your channel getting noticed, keep it up :)
@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines3 жыл бұрын
Hey thank you! With the double gear switch it has so much torque I don’t think it matters which one. The XL spins that tiny bit quicker so it’s probably better but only due to this gear setting. If you were to use the standard gearing or even switch one the L motors would be quite a bit better according to my tests😀

Yeah I was sad! Ultimately it needed one more motor on each side! The issue with tracks is they sap a lot of power but like you say it still did great!
@ericrichardson33322 жыл бұрын
To be honest I thought the tank was going to win especially on the low traction surface because it has more surface area in contact with the ground and the tracks should have made it crawl and grab better then tires do , I think with better gears and gear ratio and cooling for motors it would have won all of the tug of wars
@bushisfuckinretarded2 жыл бұрын
It's literally the opposite, hard plastic has poor friction on smooth surfaces vs rubber wheels
@christopherpepin60592 жыл бұрын
Tracks do not add grip. This is a myth that needs to die. Friction is not dependent on surface area. Tracks do not exist for the purpose of creating more friction. They solve other problems that are not terribly relevant in this scenario.

@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines Yes true but can you explain two things to me? I am German and not speaking English that long actively yet so what's in an easy way "too long of a gearing" meaning? And second I am being confused by ratios 😂 for example in your video there's A: 2,3:1 and B: 1:5 what do those mean? Like what do they describe about the gearing? I'm sorry my question might be confusing as hell 😂 but idk how to explain it more easy... Well so I am confused that on the one side it's 2,3 to 1. That must mean it's double as fast so big gears spinning small gears? And 1:5 is that small gears spin big gears for torque and less speed am I right? I am still learning, so yeah😂😂😂

Haha you’re English is good Ghost keep it up! Long/low gearing would all be like 5-7th gear in your car! Short/high gearing would be like 1st-2nd you go slow. I know we all use different phrases! So 2.33-1 would mean 2.33 times the motors spin for one revolution of the wheels 1:5 would be one turn of the motor and the wheels would turn 5 times! Fast but no torque 14:1 the motors spinning a lot but the wheels hardly turn like the 42099 lol

@TheEDFLegacy Жыл бұрын
I wonder if it's a case of "less is more?" As in, with so many threads being driven, the motors may not be able to keep up like the other build, which has a lot less components to turn despite having a similar amount of traction. What if you doubled up the outside tracks, and remove the centre ones? Though if you do that, they should be narrow like the centre ones.

Reminds me of the big willie, big willie is the first ever tank that saw combat, big willie was a monstrous beast that if you were the Germans in WW1 seeing it you’ll piss your pants.

I just came across this video and was wondering if you sell instructions to any moc? I you do I am very interested in the 42099 6x6!
@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines2 жыл бұрын
Hi Frank unfortunately not as yet as I do not have the time. I do hope to in the future though. Btw the 42099 6x6 is just another 42099 rear unit simply connected with beams. It’s simple but works well 😀

I thought the Grazer would win the last challenge because it sanded the woodblock floor and made its own high-grip surface.

The skipping teeth are what did the grazer in, without a doubt.

What does the wall switch do?! Why is it so low?! What secrets does it unlock?

Contact space area vs torque ratio hahaa At first thought I never thought that 6x6 will win because of contact area principle haha
@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines2 жыл бұрын
Yeah there was a few issues with the tank as well! One being not enough torque so the smart hubs out out! Grrr. Also the teeth started skipping near the end
