I can't really defend Mr. Star's behaviour in Quarantine either, but I do headcanon this to be his deepest regret. He nearly lost a valuable member of his fleet because of his rash behaviour. After this, he never, *ever* goes as far to do something like this again.

One of my friends said he’d be interested in hearing Paul McCartney narrate Tugs. While his role probably wouldn’t have been as iconic as Patrick Allen’s or even Ringo’s role in Thomas, it would be fun to hear what it would be like. Speaking of Thomas, since I can see a majority of the Tugs cast being in the first 7 seasons of Thomas, I wonder if Patrick Allen would voice anyone.

I got to agree with you that Captain Star and Sir Topham Hatt are very similar. So much to a degree that the issues fans had with the captain with the episode "Quarentine" were things I just shrugged off because, like you mentioned, there were things going on out of his control that would just add to the frustration. Would Sir Topham be similar in such situations? My answer is, who knows. But I would probably guess thanks to the series tone that he would be somewhat aggressive to his engines if they were late during a heatwave, tell them what their jobs were and leave it with "don't be late". That's how I feel at least. Also, with how he would originally have his name spelled like "Captain Starr", imagine if the legend himself, Ringo, actually voiced him. I think I'd be delighted to hear him narrate a kids show again.

Personally, I think Captain Star's counterpart could be Mr. Percival, the Thin Controller, as he is shown to be quite strict on many occasions.

Honestly I like the quarantine ep because ot show star temper breaking and shows how close he got to having to make a difficult decision and the humility to admit that he would have done if it meant the success of the business rather than the fat controllers just throw money at the problem

3:16 Captain Star's megaphone does shake when frightened in Jinxed when Boomer's engine started smoking and he said "Pull him out! PULL HIM OUT!". He's the only human to ever speak without one.

Fun fact: Patrick Allan narrated a series of PSAs called 'Protect and Survive' which were going to be aired in the event of a nuclear strike on the UK. They're genuinely some of the most terrifying things I've ever seen. I won't lie, I do find it a bit chilling that the Captain threatened to essentially sell two children off to be butchered, and would have had no qualms about doing the same thing to a sick old man, either...

Personally I don't have an issue with Star contemplating scrapping OJ or threatening the switchers (he's obviously not serious, he's just angry with them). Tugs is clearly meant to be more realistic and grown up than Thomas, and the fact is almost all ships (and locomotives) end up scrapped once they're too old to be useful. Even in Thomas scrappage is often mentioned, although of course the Fat Controller would never threaten to scrap one of his engines.

In many ways, I agree with you Cinder; Sir Topham Hatt (a.k.a., The Fat Controller) is a great Thomas & Friends counterpart for Captain Star. The reason for this is because, as seen in the episodes Quarantine and Cranky Bugs, both characters occasionally get frustrated with members of their respective fleets, despite the fact that some of the delays they experience occur through no fault of their own. However, they are not above admitting when they have made an error, with Captain Star admitting that some of the things he said were said out of frustration and Sir Topham Hatt apologising to Thomas and Percy when Cranky revealed that he was the one being unhelpful and rude. Also, they are indeed willing to give those around them a fair chance and would rather ensure their fleets are safe. Therefore, I think these two characters would get on quite well.

Patrick Alllen narrator voices from any documentaries though for this water theme he narrates in rare ww2 naval documentaries

I think your theory of captain Starr loosing hes cool in quarantine imagine trying to get money as a business but all your customers are quarantined. He was younger in quarantine so he was probably less sensable at that time

I actually didn’t mind Captain stars behavior in quarantine because his behavior was technically justified because both switches were late and the heat was bothering some and he wasn’t earning enough money but still he’s a great leader nothing less

Star isn't like Topham. Remember Topham Hatt is an evil fascist dictator, who locks up engines in tunnel and leaves them to die! *Insert Fart sound* Ok That was obviously a joke. The only difference between Star and Topham, is that Topham wouldn't even in a heatwave, mention the word scrap. But as Star said "Temperatures was getting hot and everyone was bothered." I 1920's I doubt small fans were made to prevent the heat. He also scolds off Burke and Blair, and honestly I think Star quickly rethought his words when Ten Cents said he couldn't sell OJ. As you say you self I don't think Star Fleet had money to keep life in OJ, he even says to Sunshine that he must do garbage duty to get money for the repairs, meaning that in Quarantine, Star didn't had the financials right.
