Today we commemorate nelson mandela's release from prison on 11 February 1990. Mandela was released unconditionally after 27 years after of imprisonment. Accompanied by his then wife Winnie, Mandela left the Victor Verster prison (renamed Drakenstein Correctional Centre) on the outskirts of Paarl, and was driven 60 km to Cape Town where crowds were waiting. We are joined by Tukwini Mandela, she is Madiba's grandchild.
