O my gosh thank you I just did my first shirt of Tie-dyed I am so disappointed I bought this product the set with 3 colors I watched this video did exactly what she said and my shirt came out crumbled blue when the color set was green pink and a purple I was like what the heck this was gonna be a gift for someone now I’m not even gonna bother with it o well I Remember in elementary school I went to camp and we made tie-dye shirts and it was so simple and they came out so perfect the color stayed in all I buy this tool up I bought a set of three colors to use and it came out one color not even any of the three colors LOL

Hi there! Yes, you can definitely create a similar look using fabric paint. You'll want to use fabric paint instead of acrylic paint since fabric paint is formulated to dry flexible on fabric. You can try Tulip Soft Fabric Paint www.ilovetocreate.com/tulip-soft-fabric-paint or Tulip ColorShot Instant Fabric Color www.ilovetocreate.com/colorshot-colors. Then crumple the shirt as shown in the video and if using Tulip Soft Fabric Paint, you can dab it on top of the crumples with a sponge. If using fabric spray paint like ColorShot, you can just spray a coat or two over the crumples. Once dry, flip the crumpled shirt over and repeat on the backside. This is an older video and since then, we've been trying to make sure we show the finished project. with the crumple technique, some of the dye will seep through to the backside, but we recommend carefully flipping over the scrunched up fabric and applying more dye to the backside after applying to the front. Hi Stephanie ... Some of the dye will bleed through to the back side but we recommend carefully flipping the crumpled fabric over and adding more dye to the back just to make sure you get enough color on both sides.

Hi there! The beauty of tie dye is that there really is no wrong way to do it! =) You could definitely do the crumple technique and add both dye colors in one session. You wouldn't need to dye, wash and repeat with a second color. You can add as much or as little dye as you would like, knowing that where the dye colors touch, it'll create a yellow-green effect (if you use yellow and green dyes). If you end up doing the crumple technique, make sure to carefully flip your jacket over and repeat adding dye on the backside. If you don't want the dye to spread as much throughout the fabric, you can leave your jacket dry when adding dye. Does this help? Please let us know if you have any other questions!

+maggie matzas Hi Maggie ... it can be damp or dry for this technique! It just depends on the look you are going for. If you add the dye while the shirt is dry, it won't spread very much and will result in a more spotted look with more of the shirt background showing. If you dye it while damp, the dye will permeate the fabric more. You can dye your shirt straight out of the washer or dry it first and dye it ... totally up to you!

Hi Maria ... We recommend washing the T-shirt before dyeing it to remove a protective coating called sizing that usually comes on the fabric. Sizing can prevent the dye from fully absorbing into the fabric, so you definitely want to make sure to wash it. You can also soak in soda ash if you prefer, but you don't have to. +GaaLeeYaoiLover Hi there ... Yes you can totally do the crumple technique on a white zip up hoodie, as long as the hoodie is 100% cotton! You would crumple it in the same way as shown in the video, just remember to carefully flip it over and add dye to the backside as well ... Since sweatshirts are made with thicker material, the dye might not seep all the way to the backside so you'll want to flip it over. Pink would be super cute! Hi Anthony ... We're so sorry you are having trouble with spots in your dye! Perhaps try adding warm water to your dye bottles and shake them vigorously until the dye powder is dissolved. Make sure to check the bottom of the bottle to see if any powder is still sitting on the bottom (it happens sometimes) and you'll need to tap the bottom of the bottle against your palm or a hard surface as you shake it. Hi Shirley ... You do need to use tie dye for permanent results on fabric. Food coloring is specially formulated for food and will not produce the same results if used on fabric.

I got a tye dye kit for my daughter’s 5th birthday it said to use it within 72 hours otherwise the colour won’t be effective enough xx

Hi there ... you can absolutely do this technique using three colors. You can apply them to different sections of the crumpled shirt, or if they are complementary colors, you can overlay them on the shirt. Have fun with it! There's really no wrong way to tie dye! =)
