In Tolkien’s setting, “Wizards” are angelic beings with inherent magical powers. As such, I predict an Aasimar Divine Soul Sorcerer. It’s kinda funny that, in DnD terms, Gandalf is actually a Sorcerer, and Doctor Strange, “The Sorcerer Supreme”, is a Wizard.

Gandalf flexes on Gimli, Aragorn, and Legolas when he makes his appearance as Gandalf the White by forcing them to drop their weapons by making them hot, some of his lights are just a touch brighter than just the Light cantrip, and Dawn is a light spell that deals damage. Contingency, to me, is the higher level equivalent of glyph of warding because you place it on you, not your gear, so even if you're robbed of everything it's in place, and it can't be scratched out.

We speculated on how to convert Gandalf in previous editions. The best we came up with was druid/wizard. But as you analyze Gandalf, it's clear he can't so much as cast fireball. And the flaming pinecones he cast in the hobbit was very druidy. But in 5e, he's definitely a bard. Personally, we should have found a way to get mage armor. Gandalf definitely seems like a mage armor type of guy. Good job, tulok! Now do Snake-eyes!

I think going Bard was really a choice, specially since even if Gandalf is an iconic wizard... He doesn't have the same magical power or might that wizards have in D&D. so going barred allows him to keep that lower magic threshold while also providing the benefit of a greater number of skills and the means of inspiring allies, plus access to spells wizards don't get that would make sense for Gandalf. So great job for this build.
