A 2001-2003 fd rx7 Bathurst or Spirit r can do it in 4.7 easy and I’ve seen them do 4.4/4.5 when launch, bone stock. Why did this one not do the same? Is it a single vs twin turbo issue? I’m confused

The RX7 has around 400hp, How do I know? because I had a Fc RX7 that is roughly similar weight to the FD and I was trapping 117 miles an hour on the very hot day.

Rx7 was held back by long shifts and bogged starts!! Short shifter, revving more each gear and a two step woulda helped a ton!!! But oh man was it gorgeous!! Give me that over the 458 anyday!!

That sound from the 458 is just amazing. I have driven one and can concur they are just incredible, for sure there are faster cars but the sound and driving experience the 458 gives you is second to none. GG again Jamie, Gapping the competition with you content lad! Keep it up!

The RX7 does not have 540hp. Stock they can run late 13s , my Trans Am with 375hp would run 13s dead and is heavier. The car RX7 has 380-420 hp most likely or less. 13.1 is still good but manuals with genuine 540hp can run faster. I wanted the RX7 to win never mind

Not sure what happened to the 540bhp, it seemed to change into about 250. No doubting those 458’s are fast, people say they’re slow compared with modern supercars though.

Big JDM fan here, love FDs and with all respect but this was not 540BHP......more like a 350 i would say. Also the gear ratio of the FD is very short, might do better on circuit and last but not least the dude suck big time in racing, shift speed and timing and launching was all over the place, or he just love his car so much that he doesn't wanna floor it and go a bit more aggressive with the shift and tyres. As others have noticed, the RX7 seemed to not be driven to its fullest potential... the sound of the revs and lag between shifts gave me the impression that you were not revving high enough specially for a rotary engine that can red line very high, and also not shifting quicker. I believe this race could have been much closer. I would suggest to show the gauges in a small corner of the screen for each car, so we can have better judgement of the driver performance. Thanks for the content!

I know everyone is already talking about it and I hope we hear your thoughts on it Jamie but what were the ratios on that RX7, I did watch the video on that cat ages ago whenever it came out but “ 540bhp “ but it really seems like 380bhp or somewhere around that. I know launching would always be a problem but we can even hear the RPM noise in the car as he hit redline. Has the RPM been lowered because it didn’t sound too high compared to what they should rev to, this match up of cars were kind of annoying to watch and I was hoping the roll race was going to be better but it just wasn’t. Very odd RX7🤷🏻‍♂️

I’m not sure I’ll ever get used to a “manual” shift with a flick of the middle finger on paddle shifters being considered a true manual shift.

Another great OG battle 👌 I think part of the win must be the DCT gearbox in the 458 (even if he's shifting using the paddles) it's just not possible to shift as fast in a manual transmission.

Loved watching the Mazda, and a huge fan of Ferraris, but that monstrosity, seriously, and the driver….. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤣
