Excellent effort sir - always appreciated! 👍🏽 Related note - all that's happened with these particular settings, is that the heater has in effect been 'detuned' to guarantee full combustion. This is great whilst full combustion & therefore no soot is the paramount concern. However - the heater's maximum temperature has been held back by almost 50% here. Here are the parameters occupying your decision-matrix (& note here that the combustion air intake-rate is literally directly connected to the heater fan speed - so to play with one key parameter (blower speed), directly affects another key parameter (combustion airflow)). So - if you have too little combustion airflow for a given pump speed (fuel-rate), then you will get sooting. This is the same as too much fuel for a given combustion airflow rate. So, both over-fuelling & under-airing the combustion process, will cause sooting. What guarantees no sooting (& also virtually no CO emission)? A definitely sufficient combustion airflow, for a given fuelling rate does. So - why not just whack up the airflow to a 'little beyond' what might be optimal - to guarantee no sooting? Because this will 'blow' on the flame too much, cause it to burn cooler than it could (should) - & this will lead to **higher fuel consumption** (for a given output of heat). And therein lies the trade-off - zero sooting but lower temp & higher fuel consumption. Or - some sooting & max heat available. Of course - you can avoid all of that & tune it with a CO monitor to-hand, & keep an eye on sooting at the exhaust pipe. With that extra effort, you'll be getting the most out of the heater. I learned much of the above from another commenter elsewhere on KZfaq.

What would the ideal airflow and fuel ratio be? (I can manually test obviously) but just wondering if you knew off the top of your head? Since it’s below freezing here the air is blowing on the fire too much
@Lucentlens2 жыл бұрын
@@thanh-thomasnguyen7969 I'd say a safe & reliable starting point is - lowest pump speed 1Hz, lowest fan speed 1500RPM, max pump speed 5.4Hz, max fan speed 4500RPM. All these are settable within the 'service' menu, of course.
@Lucentlens2 жыл бұрын
@Shep VanDelay This sounds quite plausible, & exactly the sort of thing 'ordinary users' might think of, to dramatically improve a product! 👍🏽👍🏽 (And before anyone says it - no, just because the manufacturer didn't do it, doesn't mean it's not there to be done, with great improvement. Like any manufacturer, they will make the most-profitable product, balanced with quality & efficacy hopefully. Here - we are seeking to completely shift the efficacy part of that compromise).
@Lucentlens2 жыл бұрын
@Shep VanDelay They're fantastic devices, & indeed - the price - such a game-changer! Last I had these, was before any of this (20 years ago), an Eberspächer (Airtronic). That was about £3k fitted, at the time. What I'm happy about now, is that by buying these Chinese diesel heaters - we're not supporting 'counterfeits' or illegal clones. They've just taken an expired-patent scenario & run with it - to fantastic end! Eberspächer & Webasto used to apparently/allegedly collude to keep prices artificially high.

Pf = stongness on glowplugg. Thats full power on 6. I use 4. But i have 1.2hz low. Have 3.6hz at topp. Fan speed i have low 2200. High 4500. Fan high can go up all way to last red light goes of. Then back litle so light comes on. Lights have first 2 green. 2 yellow. 2 red in end. Fanspeed can be moved up and down. But all 6 lights have to be on. I think 1hz at low is litle to litle. But if it not clogs up it is ok for you. Have bean using this for years and live in a boat there i use this 24/7 winter time. So after i fine tuned mine 8kw (same same as 5kw ) i did see diesel consume gat waaaaay down. Exteme. I had 5liter tank i cud see then. But Fan speed up and Hz down made same heat, but lower consume on fuel, and alsow lower consume in watt. Start and stopp is not good for this burners. Only use more diesel and very much more fuel. Mine is use 10 12 watt on full speed. But as i told my Hz low is 1.2 high max 3.6hz. And i do regulate Fan speed. Fan speed only blows true house around heater anyway and dont use power almost. And i have bean opening Mine many times. Locking like new inside. If to low at Hz then it can make more carbone inside them say. Best of luck. Good explaining 🎉

My small block 2kW came with 'new design' blue round shape LCD controller, Factory settings were 1.7-5.5 Hz and 1600 -4500 RPM. It gives very low C0 readings at tail pipe @1.7 Hz: 10 ppm but at full speed 5.5Hz/4500 CO goes up to 200 or more (10 cm from pipe). I dropped the low end to 1.4Hz@1500 RPM, and it still gives low CO there. The 5.5Hz is probably too much fuel for 4500RPM air.

Speed Sensor Type There are two configurations of fan speed sensor on the heaters which can be controlled by these displays. Select one or the other according to the sensor type fitted. The original instructions say that if this is set incorrectly then the fan speed is doubled. As ever, select using arrow keys and press OK. It seems that different sensors are used, some with 1 and some with 2 magnets - speed could also be halved I guess! SN=1: If fan has 1 magnet attached to it, to give the RPM signal SN=2: If fan has 2 magnets attached to it, to give the RPM signal
@alexrossmann76722 жыл бұрын
This is incorrect info. Sn 1 vs sn2 has to do with single or double polarity of the magnets. All heaters have two. A good test is to take another magnet and hold it up to your existing fan magnets. One fan magnet should attract the magnet in your hand and one should push it away for the sn1 setting.

Hi James, these settings are oké if you are using the 0.022 ml pump, there are a lot 0.016 ml pumps supplied with the 2 kw, then settings are rather low, it wil still work but outlet temperature would be low. With the small pump my settings are 4 and 1,3 hz at 4500 and 1500rpm. But it all depends on the power you need, less fuel means less fauling, but don’t go to low, then the heater wil flame out.

thanks for this. I just came back from a long trip visiting many places and relying on a similar heater for the first time. If you observe the color bars on the lcd, at different altitudes you need different settings. I was worried every time both red bars are on, wasnt sure if it is running too hot. I increased min rpm and lower pump speed for higher alt, andt try to run it with only one red bar. Any thoughts on this anyone? I was told that it auto adjusts for altitude but it doesnt seem that it does so properly. Therefore i was afraid to run it in temperature mode but ran in pump freq mode instead. Is it possible to run these too hot or do they have safety built in?
@HostileHST2 жыл бұрын
the two red bars means it's fully up to temp, so that's not a concern, it's needed or something isn't right, aka, takes too long to get to the two red bars, or never does, but ya, full 6 bars is GOOD. Sorry for the edits, late here and very tired, but trying my best, but if its running too hot and the safety's are working, it should stop the fuel pump, so far I have not had this issue, but what can happen, the next day you go to start it, it might be grumpy at first, might start the pump, shut the pump off, but let it do it's thing, might thump hard on second attemp, but shoudl fire up as long as the system is clean.
@MuddyBootz Жыл бұрын
I tuned my heater a similar way but instead of just input figures for high and low frequencies, Iowered them 0.1 each time and repeated this until the 6 burner icons changed to 5. I then added 0.1 to the figures and set these as default. I am now running on 1.3 - 3.6 Hz. 2300 - 4500 RPM. The figures at the end after 12-24v setting is to change the number of magnets in your heater… these can vary depending on model 😊👍🏻

Tried my 2kw heater tonight whilst its starting to freeze outside to get an idea on performance before we set off on a road trip to cold places in Europe. Got these settings punched in and I have to admit it seems to run really well although its the only settings I use as I have not long installed it. No smoke and no error codes etc. I put it on flat out and it went from 2.2 degrees to 11 degrees in just under an hour. I have a MWB high top camper decently insulated and opted for the 2kw as most people said the 5kw would be to much, wondering if this is not powerful enough as not sure if its normal to wait so long to get the van warm?? can anyone advise? front of the cab windows are not covered though so I know that would not help! if its 8 deg outside takes about 20-30mins to reach a comfortable 16-17deg.

@hungpham3 жыл бұрын
@@lorrainesankey172 I learned a lot on this facebook group: facebook.com/groups/146837062640024. I tuned by sticking a thermocouple from the outside to touch the combustion chamber, keeping the fan speed the same while varying the pulse rate looking for maximum temperature. I also have a CO meter to monitor and minimize carbon-monoxide output. These heaters are apparently shipped with different version of fuel pumps. Some pump out fuel faster than others, so you want to tune for the ideal fuel / air ratio. Most units run fine as arrived, so if your unit runs fine and put out a lot of heat then don't touch it. But if you feel you need to tune it then do your own research and not just copying someone else's setting. IMHO.

The 2 backlight LEDs are wired without current limiting resistors. It is strongly suspected that this allows too much current to flow though the LEDs and over a year they get dimmer and dimmer.
