That’s a very obscure instrument to say the least. June Carter would be proud of you.

I LOVE Zithers. I have a small collection of Zithers from Germany, all in pristine condition. They're fun to play on, and you can play some mean bluegrass and country with one! I prefer my steel guitar or an acoustic, but they are really quite neat.

I am pretty sure it should be called a female harp by the sounds of it... I mean the tuning. Go for the standard 1-4-5, G-C-D and get the mullet swaying for the womenz. Put Cpt Kurt on the 5 gallon bucket for drums and you've got it going on like Alcatraz.

You had an Autoharp as a child. I'm only a couple years older then you and I've never seen one (oh, the sheltered life I had, lol)

I want to think he's joking but I don't. He got it in tune, but he was strumming the wrong side of the chord changer.

The video is 90% satire but I definitely do NOT know how to properly tune or strum an autoharp
@kishascapeАй бұрын
No that’s actually the proper side for normal chord play.
@Zampan0Ай бұрын
@@kishascape Maybe that's the way you do it and I suppose it works, but I strum or pick a note above the bars because it gives a much louder, longer lasting sound.

I hope you didn't just tune from bottom to top, or top to bottom on an old instrument like that. You would be imposing torsion stresses which could break it. Perhaps that's why tuning was such an exercise. Wanna see what an autoharp can do? Check my channel out. They're definitely for more than Sunday School teachers with blue hair.

I love your comment!! I tuned it from top to bottom and then bottom to top. I'm sure your ear could tell the tune was off. But it was better than the 40 years in the closet tune. Huge crack down the middle of it so I wasn't concerned about ratcheting down haha. Checking out your channel!!

@@threefortytwo23 Two other issues with the way autoharps sound after someone "tunes" them is that, spanning 3-1/2 octaves, they need to use tempered tuning (too huge a topic for here) or they will sound "off" from the git go, even though the tuning is "dead on". Then add to that #2, where the strings taper down the instrument, but folks strum straight across, and the harmonic structure of each string is dissonant with that of every other string. Listen to my instruments vs many of the autoharp posters on YT and you will hear the difference these 2 considerations make.
