Thank you so much for this video. It is extremely enlightening. I've had sisterlocks for a little over 5 years now and have always had thick, kinky hair all of my life. I now have thinning on the front left side going back to the crown; on the right side and in the back, my locs are healthy and normal. I noticed the thinness occurring around a year ago and pointed it out to my loctician who told me that she didn't think it was bad but I felt and knew otherwise. Still, because she held a cosmetology license, I trusted her judgement as she was the one who established my locs and I hadn't been to anyone but her. Then she said it was the weight of the locs that was causing the thinness and that my locs needed a trim. My gut was telling me that it wasn't so much the weight b/c my locs were only to my bra strap in the back; I felt that the thinness was being caused by her retightening my hair in that area too tight and combining too many locs. Well, I finally sought a 2nd opinion and did a consult with another loctician who told me that I had traction alopecia caused by my previous loctician combining the locs diagonally and vertically (and basically in any kind of direction) and not in the correct pattern. It put stress on my hair in that area, causing the thinness. The new loctician said that it's fixable (she would have to fix the pattern rotation which could take a few months for my hair to grow back) and she also recommended that I see a dermatologist to rule out any damage. I'm certainly thankful that I finally sought a 2nd opinion and as a result, switched to a new loctician but at the same time, I'm kicking myself for not having done it much sooner, like a year ago when I first noticed the thinning. My dermatology appointment is in a few weeks and I'm praying that my dermatologist doesn't recommend that I cut my locs....HOWEVER, if it is recommended, then I'll certainly do the big chop. I love my sisterlocks but I will not sacrifice the health of my hair for it.

I’M SEVEN MONTHS IN AND HAVE DONE EXACTLY WHAT YOU SAID …I FELT THAT MY HAIR NEEDED OIL AS OF LAST MONTH. IT WAS SUPER DRY… AS SOON AS I WASHED MY HAIR I APPLIED OIL TO MY SCALP AND TO THE VERY ENDS OF MY HAIR, AND IT MADE ALL OF THE DIFFERENCE! I made sure not to add oil to the length of my hair though. My hair is now full of life, light and bouncy. Please continue to make these videos for us! God Bless🙏🏾❤️😉🩵🙏🏾💖😉

Tunisia, your communication skill drew me in, thank you for all the tips. My hair is naturally thick but with micro locs I hate reties because I can see my scalp and try to go at least 8 weeks before reties, and the tip about taking pictures of ❤❤❤areas of concern was on point to watch the progress.

This video is a keeper - so many great tips!! If more of us just listened and followed your advice our locs would surely flourish instead of thinning out, and if they did thin we would be able correct the problem in most instances. Thanks so much for all you do Tunisia🥰🥰
