Great video! I used to have serious scalp/dandruff issues both as relaxed and as a loose natural. I can honestly say I am amazed these issues are history as a locked sister! I credit aloe vera juice to my scalp and hair 3 times/week as solution - plus no chemicals of any kind. Freedom at last!!!

I started using henna since 1996 and believe the very best henna comes from India. I have tried African hennas too but prefer Indian henna and indigo. The FDA no longer monitors the vitamin or hair industry so many unlawful or dangerous ingredients can be in imported dyes. My hands were " burned abd developed dermatitis in 2011 aftwr habding qeave with a dye rhat turned out to be a carcinogen It was a very pretty deep black purple dye from Africa. I became a healthy hair cosmetologist in 2000 specializing in color. I learned the good, bad and ugly about it but stopped using all color except natural henna after 2005. ANY hair that is lifted is the same as the term " bleaching" which is just a lay person slang for lifting most melanin. Products that say no bleach are written that way for lay people. No hair color contains bleach, they contain peroxide aka developer but the action of ludting is technically the action lay people call bleaching. Peroxide is an acid that removes levels of melanin from the hair. There are products to smooth the cuticles and even coat the hsir shaft but developer is peroxide and technically the developer not only removes the melanin it also destroys the cuticle so that the color molecules ( which are very large) can get in to deposit in the cortex. The holes created can be pstched but the damage caused by lifting CANNOT ever be permanently repaired. How much the hair shaft is damaged depends on the keratin layers ( called hair enamel) thatvmakes up the cuticles. On averagevin terms of hair strength, tupe 4 hair is the weakest having usually 3 to 5 layers of hair enamel. Caucasian hair has on avg 6 to 8 layers and Asoan hair has 8 to 10 layers. Of course indiv within each race can differ about this. Hair or keratin layers are an indicator of how much abuse your strands can take as it is these layers that get damaged by relaxers, heat and color. The more keratin levels the more lives the cat has. Lifting color creates holes in the cuticle. Everyone that has lifted hair has severely damaged hair with holes in their cuticles and have perennially damaged, dry hair because once the cuticle is destroyed in spots those are holes* that moisture evaporates out of. This translates to chunks of melanin torn out of the cuticle all at once. Protein treatments can temporarily patch holes and oil can slow moisture loss but eventually that damaged hair will break if loose or continue to look dry and damaged if in locks. Your hair is lifted if your natural color is darker than the color you want. Red or blonde, we color by removing levels of melanin LIGHTER than the desired color then adding back fake color until we get color we want. Conditioners and synthetic protein are added back in but they never can replace the natural protein and softness destroyed by the bleaching process. The damage must be addressed almost daily. Hair can shine and be lubricated natural just with sebum and preening up to a certain length. THERE is no preening that can reverse color's hair damage since damage cuticles are not intact. Additional oils are needed because shine is basically light refracting off of healthy enclosed cuticle. Colored hair has no enclosed cuticle, it has destroyed cuticle, therefore lifted hair MUST have oils added. Oils are NOT moisturizers. THEY help soften hair and slow water evaporation. They can temporarily coat hair enough for light to bounce off the oil's surface. Cuticle is the skin of the hair. The skin fits like scales or window blinds able to be opened to let moisture in and closed once moisture or product is in there. The cuticle scales overlap like fish scales. After lifting hair under a microscope, entire portions or scales are torn off..these areas are dull. Colored hair has open holes and so cannot close or keep the hair moisture integrity. Those holes are similar to the damage a burn victim suffers once skin is destroyed. No protection? Anything can get in and most things can leak out. Henna cannot lift nor can semi permanent dyes. Lifting is how people with dark hair get red , blonde, and pale white, or gray hair. Always damaging. Always and any licensed cosmetologist who says differently is not truthful or is ignorant.

My hair has been dry. I needed, and appreciated this video. I do plan on getting some "I am Melanin Magic". Off topic though I have a Zizi plant. Can you give me tips to take care of it? I see yours looking beautiful in this video!

Girl, hey! I say do less. This is the most low maintenance plant. It's doesn't require high light or anything. Althugh it can be in a modestly light to high light environment and do fine. I water every 5 or so days. It will thrive easily. No worries. I appreciate you!

My location told me not to use products in my hair on constellation. She told me to throw away Castor oil. Now I'm 3 months in. She is saying hair is thinning. I should take vitamins and something topical really. Good thing I didn't throw out products. I use Nexxus humectress. Mega thick liquid oil.

Hi Tunisia what is the name of the product in the bottle you held up . I have sisterlocks two years ago and I have very fine hair. My hair was very scalp when I started sisterlocks. However it is filling out . Besides having very fine hair I suffered alopecia in 2014 ir thereabouts. I lost alot of hair during that time. My hair has been filling in nicely since.

It can be damp to seal in moisture, but don't keep it so damp that your hair doesnt dry and you manifest fungus/mold.
